wine users - Jan 2010 - CAN'T CHANGE RESOLUTION IN WINE

Hi Folks,

I can't change the resolution in wine using ubuntu 8.04.

The resolution is stuck on 800x600 and nothing I do gets this up to 
1024x768.

I've tried changing the grahics setting in wine configuration, no joy, 
it reverts back to the default.

A recent post had what seemed to be the same problem and the solution 
"Gedit ~/.wine/user.reg. Search for
Software\\wine\\explorer\\desktops"
and then change to the required setting next to defaults, from Soulcage, 
which worked for that person and their problem.

Unfortunately, ubuntu keeps creating a new user.reg file and reverts 
back to the default of 800x600.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You have to close all the windows programs before doing this change you can use:
wineserver -k to close them all.
Also I posted that response because the person type a really small resolution so
they couldn't change the setting in winecfg like you're supposed to.
