Screen resolution in StarCraft
I have installed StarCraft succesfully, but the screen resolution is only 600x480, how do I change it to 1024x768? I have tried to write: wine --desktop 1024x768 starcraft.exe but that makes the area available 1024x768 inside a 600x480 resolution! Sincerely Jesper

Video driver questions
...fault to the vesa driver, and it operates at the monitor's native 800x480. Of course I want more and to physically scroll the screen to see all of the content (the OQO has slide bars on it that do cause the current active window to scroll). When I change the monitor settings to Generic LCD 1024x768, I get that and 800x600 as an option. If I change the screen resolution to either 800x600 or 1024x768, and log out of X and log back in, my resolution is unchanged at 800x480. So I tried using the VIA driver that comes with Centos. It does not list the CX700, but, you know, give it a try. A...

xorg display problems
...il today everything has been fine with CentOS on my Toshiba laptop. I booted into CentOS 4.3 today and Kudzu detected my video card for some reason. I let it configure it (wish I hadn't now). I can still get in. X and Gnome work. But the video resolution is 800x640. The LCD is capable of 1024x768. I cannot change it using Gnome tools or direct editing of /etc/X11/xorg.conf With the Gnome "Display" system tool I cannot change the monitor to "Generic LCD Display". Any help you can offer on getting the 1024x768 display mode to work again would be appreciated. Here ar...

Video resolution for CentOS guest
Would someone please point me to some reasonably current instructions for getting greater than 1024x768 video resolution for a CentOS 6 guest on a CentOS 6 KVM/qemu host? When I search online I find stuff from 2009 and 2010 saying, "For details see ...," and linking to a URL that no longer exists, or pages that say, "You need to switch from VNC to Spice," and giving a long list o...

KVM Linux Guest Resolution only 1024x768
Dear All, I'm trying to install a Debian Wheezy KVM guest on a CentOS 6.4 Host. The only resolutions supported are 1024x768 or 800x600. I increased the video RAM to 500 MB, but the guest still says: [ 10.321] (II) CIRRUS(0): Not using default mode "1920x1200" (insufficient memory for mode) Only 32 MB are recognized: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Cirrus Logic GD 5446 (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])...

Strange problem with CentOS 7 and guest additions in VirtualBox
...e explain it step by step. tl;dr: I can install VirtualBox Guest Additions and configure a fullscreen 1280x1024 graphical resolution on a full install, but not on a reduced install with a lightweight window manager. Here's what I did. 1. Install vanilla CentOS 7 with KDE. 2. Boot to reduced 1024x768 resolution. 3. Install gcc, make and kernel-devel. 4. Build VirtualBox Guest Additions. 5. Reboot to full 1280x1024 resolution. ==> perfect On a vanilla desktop installation, this works perfectly. Now here's my second attempt. 1. Install minimal CentOS 7. 2. Install X11: yum groupinsta...

screen size and screen location
I am trying to find a way to control what size screen my wine app things it has. How is this done? Example my screen is 1600x1200 but I only want the wine app to think the max screen size is 1024x768. How do I do this? Also, Can I then control where the smaller window opens? Like at position 100,100 on the screen for example. THanks for any pointers to these two issues, Jerry

system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor. That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver wasn't available for it, I

Basics about Videostreaming?
...I've seen, that icecast can stream videos! Great! Audiostreaming with icecast is well known, but how about videostreaming? Can you tell me some basics about it? - which software is required? (Icecast, ok ;) what else? - by the way: my OS is a linux ;) ) - I want to stream a live-video with 1024x768 resolution - is it possible? - is it wise? - what a compression-rate is to use, if the output-device is a beamer (1024x768) and the images should have a medium or a good quality in spite of the compression - What a bandwidth is needed for this resolution/compression? - which other points are imp...

Running Wine in Window Mode
I seem to be able to run a video game in 1024x867 (what ever it is) as a window, by selecting the window mode button in the game. However, i can not run the game in window mode with a resolution set about 1024x867. What is going on? I am assuming i am missing something in wine or the game that does not allow the video game to be run in any resolution greater than 1024x867 in window mode.

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Hi everybody, I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 on an old desktop PC with a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS and a screen of 19 inches. The maximal resolution of my screen with Nvidia drivers is 1280x1024. (In particular, I use the Nvidia 331.89 driver) With Nouveau driver, the maximal resolution falls to 1024x768. Is there a solution for increasing the maximum resolution with Nouveau ? Best regards, Victor Lef?vre

Switching video mode
Hi, This is some short of technical question or might be my stupidity, please tell me so ;o) Ok, let's say I have an application which I would like to run in 640x480x32/fullscreen. I have my basic X desktop settings at 1024x768 and I would no like to change the resolution. Is there any way to let wine start an X server on another shell with a different resolution, automatically switch to thatone and run the application there? Or any way to change resolutions on on of the multi-desktop environments (kde/gnome)? I'...

How to set a different resolution?
...on properly. With the closed nvidia driver, I usually just click on krandrtray in KDE and pick a different resolution. With nouveau driver, though, it works as well, but only partially. I can see the resolution is theoretically changed (fonts, windows are bigger when I change from 1280x1024 to 1024x768), but technically, in my LCD monitor info I can see the resolution is still 1280x1024. Why? Because of this issue, I can't use my beamer (dual-head), which only supports resolutions up to 1024x768. -- Tomasz Chmielewski http://wpkg.org
