wine users - May 2011 - Graphics Flickering Issue w/ Wine & ati Radeon HD 4870

I am having a graphics problem that is prohibiting me from playing portal 2
(serious business). I just recently installed Wine. I tried to play portal 2 and
my graphics start flickering rapidly, mostly black.

tried on
ubuntu 10.10 64 bit
wine version 1.3
ati radeon hd 4870 ver 11.3(i believe) 04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI
Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4870]



i updated to ati radeon hd 4870 ver 11.4 and still same problem.

I've played another game called Nexuiz which works fine with my graphics
card, not Wine of course.....any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Possible problem with the radeon drivers and Wine.  AMD/ATI video cards 
are not the first choice when working with Linux/Wine.

Not unless you can figure out how to get AMD/ATI or the FOSS folks to 
fix the driver issue.
