SC2 runs really well in wine. That suggests to me that your issue is
running SC2 from a Windows NTFS partition. This isn't very well
supported for various reasons. Try copying your SC2 install from
Windows to Linux partition (or, ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/) and
creating new icons.
