Hello all I have just purchased NeverWinter Nights Platinum Edition which consists of the original game plus Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark. The installation is at version 1.63 and I have been trying to update to version 1.69 by means of the patches downloaded from nwn.bioware.com. These patch files are about 300 Mb each in size and are called NWNEnglish1.69OrigUpdate.exe NWNEnglish1.69HotUUpdate.exe NWNEnglish1.69SoUUpdate.exe If I try to apply these patches by cd to .wine/drive_c/NeverWinterNights/NWN and type wine filename I get the reply You cannot use this patch with your current install of NeverWinter Nights. I get this with the 1.68 patch as well. If I start the game and select Update I am told that the update is pinging nwpatch.bioware.com. I then get a message that a connection to the internet was not detected or the patch server might be down. Pinging nwpatch.bioware.com shows that there is a connection, 64 bytes from nwpatch.bioware.com (204.50.199.10): icmp_seq=1 ttl=41 time=171 ms 64 bytes from nwpatch.bioware.com (204.50.199.10): icmp_seq=2 ttl=41 time=168 ms 64 bytes from nwpatch.bioware.com (204.50.199.10): icmp_seq=3 ttl=41 time=168 ms 64 bytes from nwpatch.bioware.com (204.50.199.10): icmp_seq=4 ttl=41 time=170 ms I have downloaded NWUpdate version 1.24 Can anyone help ? TIA

These patch files are about 300 Mb each in size and are calledIf you are only interested in playing the game, then I suggest using the native version which was released for linux. The client should be availabel from bioware's website, and if necessary the data files as well. Other than that the only thing you really need from your purchase is the serial key. Aside from simply testing NeverWinder Nights on wine, since there is a native client available, its not really worth fixing any bugs found. -- Darragh "Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool."
