Hello all I have just purchased NeverWinter Nights Platinum Edition which consists of the original game plus Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark. The installation is at version 1.63 and I have been trying to update to version 1.69 by means of the patches downloaded from nwn.bioware.com. These patch files are about 300 Mb each in size and are called NWNEnglish1.69OrigUpdate.exe

I have seen posts regarding WINEPREFIX so that Windows programs can be installed elsewhere than in the default .wine/drive_c/... folder. I have 2 or 3 Windows programs in the default folders which I run under Wine, and another program (Serif PagePlus 11) also in the default folder that does not run and I want to uninstall. I have installed Prey onto my pc running PCLinuxOS following the instructions in http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=prey or http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3465 and tried running it. I then found I needed the nocd patch, which I downloaded and applied. I then tried cd to the app folder, then wine prey.exe with the following result: Prey 1.0.103 win-x86 Jun 10

I know that windows exe files can be run using Wine, but I have a windows program I would like to run under PCLINOS and the update/patch is in the form of a .com file. Can a file of this type be used for the update/patch in Wine ?

Apologies for what is probably a silly question ! If one installs a Windows program in Linux with Wine which requires things like Winetricks to install some Windows stuff, is the whole installation within the .Wine folder ? I assume that when installing Windows programs (Including anything else that is necessary, eg. from Winetricks) then everything is indeed within .Wine with no changes at all

Hello all Has anyone tried running Daikatana in PCLinuxOS? I installed using wine pathtocdrom/setup.exe, applied the nocd patch. To run I navigated to the install folder and used wine Daikatana.exe. The game ran fine until I wanted to save just after I had obtained the first save jewel. Pressing Esc to bring up the ingame menu led to a freeze and I had to use the 'Magic SysRq' to get out.

The cooling fan on my ATI packed up and it was a choice of a new fan/heatsink combination and having to nearly rebuild my pc to allow room for it (nearly the size of my card and over 1 inch thick !) or replacing the card.
