wine users - Dec 2007 - embedded sound in power point and stopping power point sound is in a loop

Running 0.9.50 and embedding sound in a power point is working.
However, when I "kill" the powerpoint the audio clip continues to
play.

It's not just that application. 
Sound loops in Dragon NaturallySpeaking, causing the program to print the same
phrase over and over.
My short-term workaround is to change ALSA to OSS in winecfg.
