Dragon NaturallySpeaking 7 install fails -ve memory reported
Hi folks, I'm presently having my second foray into Wine. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 on a machine with 3GB memory. I'm having problems installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 7 and would welcome some guidance. When I run "wine /media/cdrom1/autorun.exe" the install looks promising for a few moments, then an error message saying: "Your computer does not meet the minimum specifications for installation of Dragon NaturallySpeaking" and it reports...

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5
I tried to install Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 with wine on Debian Squeeze. My Wine version is 1.0.1-3.1. It installed Visual C++ 9.0 runtime, but failed to install Microsoft .NET framework, and so the installation failed. Is the solution merely to upgrade my Wine to version 1.4 to install NaturallySpeaking11.5? l Or is the goal to i...

Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Under Wine 23, DNS9 installed seemingly well through Disk 1 (wouldn't let me remove Disk 1 and install Disk 2). Wine 24 and 25 seem to have regressed. I have Ubuntu' Feisty installed, and used the Edgy build. That may be part of the problem.

Problem installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 -- possible regression?
I am suddenly having a problem installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0. I have the following wine. wine-1.5.16 I tried twice, following my own directions. $ env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine winecfg $ winetricks dotnet40 $ wine Dragon12Home_E.exe The first time I didn't uninstall mono first, and the second time I did. Both times crashed. I have...

Help installing large files - Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.5 and 10.0
I have been trying to install Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.5 and 10.0 using wine's most current git. With 9.5, the install fails to install the largest files, which are quite huge. With 10.0, the files are even larger, and the install just hangs and won't continue. ?? Wine 9.0, which has slightly smaller file sizes, installs and runs prett...

Getting Dragon NaturallySpeaking to install
(Hello. I need speech recognition. Have Acer Ferrari 4005 AMD64, Edgy Eft, Wine 19. Tried installing DNS 9 -- the latest version.) -2147286787: Internal error in Windows Installer 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime. Update on using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10
DNS 10 installs and runs well for entering text into most other wine applications. Of course, it still runs best in notepad, which is a small, fast program. As of a couple of gits ago, wine now allows some keystroke command of the program. For instance, highlight the program using alt-tab. Then alt-T (for Tools) then x (for Dictation Box). The box opens and is ready to be dictated into. This is a

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11
Hi, Here's a question for any of you who use DNS recent versions. Nuance is having a "Multiple Copies" half-price sale (ending on Sept. 30 2010) on DNS-11 Premium for owners of DNS-10 Preferred software. My only experience is with running DNS under MS Vista. I am wondering whether, in addition to upgrading to DNS-11 under Vista, it would be worthwhile for me to buy a second copy to

Re: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11
I don't know the international policy, but in the Netherlands I called Nuance about installing on more than one system I was allowed to install on two different computers if the copies wouldn't be used at the same time, because it's a single user license. You should find out if you really need to buy another copy.

progress of sound update -- REVISED
Change -- The program I test with is Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Yesterday's Ubuntu updates produced a rash of pulseaudio changes, and suddenly alsa works with wine, without stumbling. Today's secret to making it work: In System/Preferences/Startup applications, uncheck pulseaudio sudo apt-get install esound sudo nano /etc/pulse/client.conf autosp...

Naturally speaking + Wine better, the audio not so good
NaturallySpeaking under wine is working remarkably well considering the amount of complexity present in both systems.. When I use it, it's just smoother and feels better than NaturallySpeaking under Windows. My undying gratitude is extended to all of those that helped. Here's what doesn't work so wel...

Getting lowest latency sound?
I have been trying to get lowest-latency sound (with highest fidelity) to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I have Jaunty and the latest RT kernel, which I know has problems for many applications but works fine to run DNS. (It will not, however, install the program nor train it.) I set up real-time audio access as follows: sudo su -c 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >> /etc/security/limits.conf&...

No Sound in Wine - disable / remove pulseaudio
Wine requires direct access to sound device(s) to make sound. This is true for both ALSA and OSS driver back-ends. However most sound servers are not compatible with neither of these back-ends. This also true about pulse-audio - it is not fully compatible with Wine. If you using new distro (Fedora 8, Ubuntu 8.04, SuSE 11) and do not have sound you should: 1. Report problem to your distro support

FYI -- Just to let you know of potential sound problems
I have the latest version of Ubuntu Studio (Karmic) and just re-installed it today. I use non-pulse applications, including Audacity and Dragon NaturallySpeaking running under wine. I have tried disabling pulseaudio every way I know how. I am getting no sound, mostly due to what are described as timeout errors. Ubuntu has been working to make it run with pulseaudio properly disabled, so that the few of us who don't want it don't have to have i...

Wine USB sound is OSS only?
I have a USB soundcard that I have tried to run with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It doesn't work unless I set winecfg to oss instead of alsa. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? How do I get alsa over USB? Thanks, Susan Cragin
