In case you missed it, RC2 is on slashdot.org too: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/08/13/1811241 BTW Gian-Carlo Pascutto wrote on /. that RC3 should appear very soon (in a week or so)? Also, it looks like Wall Street Journal article is not available on-line (at least to non-registered persons). If someone is registered or have a paper edition, please post this article somewhere so that we can all read it! -- Vorbis Xtreme | http://solair.eunet.yu/~aldov/ Ogg Vorbis is the free, open source alternative to MP3 --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Honestly, I see being Slashdotted more as a bad thing. Now hundreds of trolls will spread nosense such as "Don't use it because the name sucks!", "It's open source and not patented so it must suck!" and start huge discussions (read: flamewars) about how it sounds geek and why sounding geek is bad and not what the users want... And the funny thing is that there are people out there who actually believes that crap! BTW I just let a friend of mine do a test between Ogg Vorbis RC2 and WMA, both at 64 kbit. I encoded "Sometimes" from Britney Spears. (I don't have any classical music) He said that WMA sounds nowhere like 128 kbit MP3 and that Ogg Vorbis is 1000x better. :) Yay! --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Other people refuse to believe that Free Software is not the same as freeware (they don't care about wether you can legally copy it or not). And some users of my GPL'ed software even refuse to accept the right to distribute the software, and would rather keep everything closed and to himself. .........
