Permissions on Shares
I have a strange samba share problem. I am hoping that someone can shed some light on this problem. I have a directory called /home/warez. Inside of this is music/ and warez/ I have all of my mp3's in music and all my applications in warez. I have both of these directories shared using samba as follows: [music] comment = Music path = /home/warez/music public = yes writable = yes [warez]...

info an ARES/WAREZ
Hello, I''m blocking/limiting succesfully all P2P activity on our corporate network using linux/ipp2p/connmark. That is, until now. For my colleagues have found a new p2p client to wreck havoc on our DSL line: ARES/WAREZ It seems to be a gnuttela clone, but different enouph for ipp2p not to identify it. I played around a bit with tcpflow with no success of finding something that could be taken as a positivie signature in its headers. Is there any info of this new p2p network ? Any open soure client ?...

Centos VPS providers in the European Union?
...ral reasons I am only interested in companies which are 100% based in the European Union (both the legal entity and the datacenter) _and_ speak English with their customers, thanks. Another requirement is that it has to be a provider which: * either doesn't host anonymizers, adult content and warez altogether, or * if it does, it does it on a completely different set of IP addresses the reason is exclusively technical, ie availability: I have already seen where I work the webmail of several, absolutely family-safe websites blocked because, as it turns out, they sit on the same IP address or...

Bash Script for Beginners! oh dear :'(
...g a treat and squidGuard is the icing on the cake. But, I am trying to write a shell script to search through our black list category's for squidGuard and remove the parsed value; Scenario: /some/directory/where/blacklist/is/stored contains about 40-50 folders called, adult, gambling, banking, warez etc. There is a folder for each blocking category (and in each folder is two files, urls and domains, standard stuff for web filtering!) I have a script to search through /some/directory/where/blacklist/is/stored and look at each text file trying to find someblockedsite.com and remove it. This is...

using syslinux to try to kickstart a RH9 install...
...'re trying to use the same servers/head-nodes to test the ability to move the cluster to RH9. I am able to use the redhat initrd and such to automate the install. But, if I modify the initrd (add things to theirs, which changes the compressed size; or make the rd big enough to hold all my warez) more than very slightly, everything breaks. IE making the zipped redhat disk just a little bigger, it forgets that it was told to use a specific .ks and anaconda drops to the installer and asks about localizations and such. Or if I make the ramdisk too big, anaconda tells me the installation...

ext3 device reported to be 100% full, but we do not know where?
Hello to everybody here, We have a strange problem with ext3. df reports 28 of 30 GB to be used (rest may be slack) which it calls 100% used. But with du we can only find 13 GB, most of it actually in pretty large files (archives). Where are the other 17 GB gone? In case you missed it, RC2 is on slashdot.org too: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/08/13/1811241 BTW Gian-Carlo Pascutto wrote on /. that RC3 should appear very soon (in a week or so)? Also, it looks like Wall Street Journal article is not available on-line (at least to non-registered persons). If someone is registered or have a paper edition, please post this article somewhere so that we

Is Wine64 usable yet?
Hi, I am trying to get a general feel of how usable Wine64 is. I just built 1.3.13. To see how well it works, I ran 64-bit Putty. It works flawlessly. Now, I am trying to play around with different little programs. I took "notepad.exe" from a Windows 7 install (hoping it would be a reasonably simple program for a start). It crashed with: fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil)

Securing SSH wiki article outdated
...o guess SSH port number with > access restricted to a few IP addresses. <snip> I disagree - I am in the "waste of time" camp. The reality is that only script kiddies start out by trying 22 (and I *do* mean script kiddies - I've seen attempts to ssh in that were obviously from warez, man, where they were too stupid to fill in ___ with a username, or salt. All the others, I figure they don't need to be major league, just someone with a clue, who'll run a scan; in fact, I'd expect them to run a scan just to see what IPs were visible, and I know that if I was writing...

win4lin + debian
...a >Win4Lin newsgroup eh? So what have I been reading (or smoking?!) the past two years! as I posted to the other thread mentioning win4lin, there is a very good subscription-group (*), win4lin-users@netraverse.com subscription details on the netraverse site of course, if you only have a warez version of win4lin (I gather they exist), you may have some reluctance to go down that road... :-) Bob * ie like wine-devel - only about half the traffic -- robert w hall

Question about safety in using WINE
Hey guys, I just found out about wine today, and i am extremely paranoid about getting viruses and malware and things of that nature. If i use this program strictly just to play video games is there any chance i could get infected by anything? I just wondered how vulnerable this would make my computer. Thank you

+AFs-Wine+AF0- How do I make wine run for non root users?
...emory ,that ask for >being root . Wine should NEVER do this. Where did you get your version of Wine from as it appears it has been hacked OR you ran Wine as root ONE TIME. No program running under Wine should ever ask for root's password either. Time for a clean up of Wine and DO NOT USE WAREZ EITHER. James McKenzie
