Some pre-RC1 listening tests
...y/watery.
bassrumble.wav - sounds fine!
horn.wav - there's still a small amount of noise/fluttery added. Maybe
the bitrate is too low? (59kbps)
glitch.wav - high-frequency glitch in the left channel when the
cymbals are hit (at 0:03s). You can get this file from here:
http://solair.eunet.yu/~aldov/glitch.pac
(it is packed with LPAC).

A killer clip
Check this clip (it's small, 373kb)

It left oggenc, lame and MP+ encoders choking in dust.

One important thing
Hi.
Since I'm new to this mailing list, I don't know whether this was discussed
in this mailing list, or if it is already fixed.
Anyway, the problem is that all audio encoders out there add a small amount
of silence to the start/end of the encoded file. This is usually a small
amount, around 0.03 seconds. Most of the time it goes unnoticed, BUT when
you have tracks that flow into one

Lossless/lossy hybrid?
...? Is it a good idea or is it stupid?
If people seem interested, I'll put together a version so you can do some
listening tests and let me know what you think.
Take care and thanks for any opinions.

mp3PRO encoder/decoder demo available
...that was hype).
SBR (Spectral Band Replication) seems to be working pretty well.
Of course SBR is only used if you play those files using a mp3PRO
decoder. When mp3PRO files are played using an ordinary
mp3 player, it will sound much worse.

Can I encode now?
I saw the news about release 1.0 coming up this weekend, but was wondering
if there is any reason not to encode now with the pre-release software I
have. I want to use CDex with its Ogg support ("Ogg Vorbis DLL Encoder
version 1.04, engine 1.04) to replace my MP3 files with Ogg -- and would
like to start this weekend while I have the time.
Any advice or suggestions appreciated...

Wavelet audio codec by Adapted Wave Tech.

For more info, check their website: http://www.adaptedwave.com
I know that there is a question about wavelets in Ogg Vorbis FAQ, and it
says that wavelets are good mostly for transient signals...
Comments?

Release Candidate 1 encoder ?
...I know this question has been asked many times, but since
Monty said that RC1 will be released in July (actually a pre-release

everything still on schedule or is RC1 going to be delayed?

pre-RC1 downloads
Hi!
Propably a stupid question, but where can I get those brandnew encoders
from? It'd be great if someone could post those URLs to the list for
people like me who don't read any forums (no time, no fun :P). Thanks in
advance!
Obtw, CVS would be fine, too ... but as long as the new code isn't
merged to the main branch I feel pretty lost searching for it. Any help
here would also be

When using Winamp's diskwriter with the ogg plug-in v1.13 the

are lost. I hope Peter can fix this.

udial.wav problem
...clip like it was before, but this clip contains
signal past 19kHz which is audible as a faint high-frequency hiss -
and that hiss is gone in the encoded file since RC2 cuts off at 19kHz.
I think that -b256 and -b350 should encode at least up to 19.5kHz.
