Yes. You need the "GLib" library (eg
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/glib/glib-building.html). It needs
pkg-config, and IIRC, pkg-config needs something else.
It's frustrating, but the process does terminate eventually.
The Bioconductor list may be more helpful
