Hello, Could someone explain me step by step, how to use VNC on a debian sarge 3.1 Dom0 and DomU. I follow this tutorial to install XEN : http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_xen3_debian And I try this for VNC but it doesn''t work : http://www.debian- administration.org/articles/322 (I try XDM and XFCE4) Thanks you! _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
I''ve done the same setup, followed the two tutorials and it worked perfectly for me.. the tutorials descripe the process step-by-step, just go through the tutorial again step-by-step, maybe you missed something. Good luck! Kris Rachid Abdoun wrote:> Hello, > > Could someone explain me step by step, how to use VNC on a debian > sarge 3.1 Dom0 and DomU. When you say it "doesn''t work" that is very vague. Do any steps fail? What does the X log show? More details would be nice. Re: Re: [Xen-users] HowTo use VNC on Debian Dom0 and DomU
I found an Issue.. I would like to have XFCE and XDM on domU. To have this configuration, I have installed xfce4 xfce4-goodies vncserver on domU. On dom0, I have installed xtightvncviewer. When I''d like to connect on domU from dom0, i put on the dom0''terminal : xtightvncviewer & Then, I enter the ip:1 and the pass and I''ve got XFCE4 ! nice! Now I would like to have a session manager like XDM. I install it, I reboot the domU and do the procedure to connect via VNC. But there is a problem... When I close the session, XFCE4 crash!! What''s the problem? Does I configure anything else? How can I get VNCSERVER at the startup? I try to put VNC=1 in the VM configuration files, but the server doesn''t run!! Thank you!!! Re: Re: [Xen-users] HowTo use VNC on Debian Dom0 and DomU
I don''t follow exactly the tutorial.. I installed XFCE4, XFCE4- GOODIES and XDM on domU but it doesn''t work... Why? I found another Issue : XFCE4, XFCE4-GOODIES, VNCSERVER and flag VNC=1 (config file) for DomU X-WINDOW-SYSTEM-CORE, XFCE4, XFCE4-GOODIES, XTIGHTVNCVIEWER for Dom0 then I run XTIGHTVNCVIEWER on Dom0 and put IP:1 + password and that work! But if I install XDM, and connect to DomU, I have XFCE4 that''s ok! But if i log out from XFCE, XFCE crash and I don''t have XDM (session manager). I''m wrong? What''s the problem? If you have some others solutions, I would like to know it :-) Thank you!
