Logins via winbind & ssh/xdm/... take a lot of time
Hi, I have a box running with samba 2.2.7 and winbind (nmbd and winbindd in use) to allow users of the local NT domain to login. The config files for PAM and /etc/nsswitch.conf have been configured correctly so logins are now possible using the local console (login), ssh, xdm and su. Almost everything works fine - everything but the time that is needed for the login process of an NT user to complete. Directly after having provided user name and password, I get the local welcome message (in this case SuSE's "Have a lot of fun"), but after that, it takes sev...

OpenBSM questions
...annot resolve, so i decided to ask there. 1) I found some bugs in the auditreduce utility and created patch for it - http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=114534. Please, someone from freebsd team - take it, i think its better to fix this before next release. 2) I found that when i`m using XDM as login manager with OpenBSM, all my audit events comes with subject -1, and becauseof this i cant filter them with audit_user policy. When i`m using console "login" all work as designed and i got logged in user in the subject. I think that xdm must be patched to support audit, i foun...

Thin client system for X applications?
...nd ideally cheap) that a user could display X applications on. I guess they're now called thin clients, but they now seem geared as seats on the web, and for this application we would need to be able display the results of running a homebrewed X application from a CentOS system, either through xdm, or ssh with X forwarding, or vnc. Running CentOS too on the thin client would be nice, but not a requirement. The HP t5545 looks right for size and price, but I can't tell if it could support displaying arbitrary X apps.

ext3 0.9.6 vs ext3 0.9.9
Hello, I have done extensive testing between 2.4.9 and 2.4.9-ac12 with ext3 0.9.6 and 0.9.9. I also tried using both kgcc and gcc-2.96. I have a problem with logging into xdm or starting the gnome-session totally locking up the machine while using ext3 0.9.9. It seems to go away using ext3-0.9.6. During xdm/gnome-session the hard disk is under heavy activity. I have attached my kernel config. If you want lspci -v or other info out of /proc just ask. It only seems to...
