wine users - Aug 2010 - running wine on windows

Howdy all, quick question.

As you know, The knights of the old republic games have a hard time running on
windows 7 effectively, and even harder on vista.

I was wondering if you can run wine on windows?  And if so, can you use it to
run older programs that can't run on newer OS's?

Finally, are there any instructions on using wine?

Why not use the Win 7 virtualizer to run XP?  Maybe the Knights game 
runs OK on XP?

belive it or not, I've tried using VMWare to run KotOR.  doesn't work
out that well...
