Ok, I finally got done with installing files for work, but now I am having troubles with a game I play occasionally called Anarchy Online. I got the game itself installed just fine, but now I need to patch it, and according to the forum, I need to get Internet exploder working on linux. I tried the IES4Linux first, because it seemed easiest, but I got an error with my version of wine. I am using version 1.1.42 and it is a clean install, with no overrides. I need help getting internet exploder working in wine, what is the best way to get it?

IE8 cannot be installed to Wine, yet. The Wine FAQ gives detailed instructions on how to use the script. James McKenzie

@James McKenzie I don't know which one it likes, but I will keep trying until I find one that works I guess. Thanks for your help though @John Drescher Thanks for the link, I hope it works alright. It should work with version 6. By the way, is the winetricks ie6 the code to install internet explorer? Ok, thanks for the help, should I just give up trying to get ies4linux working?
Ok, now I am completely stumped. I got Internet Explorer working perfectly (Or at least as good as it gets) and got a missing dll, yet I still get the same error, "An unsupported operation was attempted" and have no clue on how to get around it. Does anybody know what this is?

Try running the program in a terminal session: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#run_fromm_terminal and if the result is quite lengthy, you can produce a logging file and post it to a site like pastebin.com and post the URL to the resulting page here. How to produce a log file is described here: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log. Please provide this and we will attempt to help you further. James McKenzie
ok, sorry, I obviously wasnt clear enough. The program that does not work currently is the patcher. It gets the updates, but for some strange reason, it cannot get them. I am guessing it is due to Internet explorer not working, but I can run internet explorer just fine. I am using ie6, because ie7 is not yet supported for ubuntu 10.04.

Did you try winetricks to install ie7? Some sites are now deliberately not allowing ie6 due to many problems with it. James McKenzie
I managed to get Anarchy Online working a couple of days ago. I had a full, up-to-date client to test with though, so I don't actually know if the patching will work, I'll have to wait for an update to test it. I tried to stick to this guide: http://forums.anarchy-online.com/showthread.php?t=557615 (Only difference is installing IE6 via winetricks rather than IES4Linux). Although I just copied my up-to-date files across rather than actually installing it, so I can't help in that department. Is the patcher rendering correctly? Do you get the actual text and background of the frame in the patcher all loaded? My patcher looks like it used to under Windows, apart from the buttons look a little strange. Before I got IE6 working, there was white boxes in the frame of the patcher.
