Hello, I installed IE6 with both WineTools and IEs4Linux (under different user accounts). Most of the features work, but IE often hangs. Then I can only kill the process. Has someone got IE6 stable under WINE? If so, which WINE version do I have to use and how shall I configure it? Thanks in advance, Colin Finck

Wine now has its own internet explorer replacement, no need to install anything else. you just have to update wine to current version (0.9.12) --- Colin Finck <ColinFinck@compuserve.de> a ?crit :> Hello, > > I installed IE6 with both WineTools and IEs4Linux (under different user > accounts). > Most of the features work, but IE often hangs. Did you try to open a popup window under IE installed by IEs4Linux? You can also simply click on Help -> About -> Acknowledgements. I tried both Wine 0.9.7 and 0.9.12, but both versions crashed. Which Wine version are you using? Best regards, Colin Finck

It is in fact much more stable than IE6, but unfortunately it displays many sites much more worse (e.g. the Adobe website is nearly unusable). Also most IE users currently use version 6.x, so often it is not necessary to specially optimize sites for IE 5.x if they work well on IE 6.x. That means that I still need a working IE6 under Wine. Do you also now why there is so much difference between the stability of IE 5.x and 6.x? Like I heard, MS only improved the layout engine. Best regards, Colin Finck
