Hello, it's my first time on wine forum

I have a problem with world of warcraft with the last patch on ubuntu 10.4,
i've installed wine from the ubuntu software center, i try to start wow and
and work fine but i have a low fps (15-16)
i've try to set -opengl on the launcher code but nothink changed :\
i've installed proprietary drivers from hardware settings for my ati 4650HD
Can someone help me pls? 8)

Hello,

I have the HD4350 card and my FPS got much better when I played the game 
full screen and inside of Wine with Emulated Desktop turned on.  If you 
have not tried the emulated desktop feature then go into the Wine 
configuration and click on the Desktop tab to turn on and set the screen 
size of the emulated desktop.

You can disable desktop effects; this might make you gain a few fps.

I too am having the same problem. 

Ubuntu 10.4
Wine from ubuntu repositories (forget version)
ATI Radeon Mobility 1 GB HD 4670
6 GB RAM

Using Catalyst 10.6 drivers.

While I don't expect the FPS to be the same at all .. I figured it would at
least be only a bit of a loss ...

As an unfair comparison .. I usually get about 60 FPS in a city like Stormwind
under Windows ... under wine I can barely get 30 .. I expect a 10% loss .. but
50% seems a bit drastic to me.

Odd thing is I have followed all tips about turning off effects, reducing my
resolution .. you name it .. still no change.

You need to address this with AMD/ATI.  They did have 'lurkers' here,
but they have not said much in the last few months.

That being said, if you want to run Wine on Linux, you will have switch to a
more efficient video card with better Linux support:  nVidia.  Their cards
appear better, they appear to perform better and all around nVidia appears to
want to support Linux.

And yes, AMD/ATI has a LONG history of being very reluctant to support any OS
other than Windows.

Sadly, you have done everything that I would suggest to get better quality.
