hello, I''m currently looking for a html/css/ajax/rails programmer. if your interested please email neumanc@gmail.com. I have paying work, will pay via check, money order, paypal or credit card. I''m not sure if I can post this here or not. if not, please remove and email me a warning as I did not see any rules on signup. Thanks -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
I need to execute a few sql files from within my migrations. The sql files are long and contain postgis, tsearch2 and other postgres specific sql statements so converting them to ruby is not an option. I''ve seen solutions that suggest reading the file using IO, then splitting by ";" and executing, but that seems a bit much for a relatively simple command. Is there a way to execute an external sql file from within migrations like "execute ''source=external_file.sql'' or something similar? This doesn''t need to be cross-platform compatible - just postgres. Thanks for your help, Jeff Dean

What sort of pay range are you willing to explore? I have been working in rails since it was first released. I am a contributor to the code base in the form of several documentation patches. I have deployed three rails applications for commercial operations. 1. An office management application for a construction company located in the Minneapolis St. Paul area. The application kept track of all their current projects, the contractors that they worked with, and the service requests that customers had let them know about. 2. A CMS for an apartment rental company located in the Midwest. The system allows them to modify parts of their web site without having to touch any code. I also provided functionality for manging their wireless network subscription system which allowed tenants to sign up for wireless internet service before their move in date. 3. A mostly static site for a pharmacy http://www.accrx.com (not done yet). Rails page caching is used for outward facing pages. There are several administrative pages that allow for the customer to create and send out newsletters to subscribers and manage static page content.
