[R] COURSE: Statistical practice in Epidemiology with R
Course in STATISTICAL PRACTICE IN EPIDEMIOLOGY USING R ===================================================Tartu, Estonia, 26 - 31 May 2005 The course is aimed at epidemiologists and statisticians who wish to use R for statistical modelling and analysis of epidemiological data. The course requires basic knowledge of epidemiological concepts and study types. These will only be briefly reviewed, whereas the more advanced epidemiological and statistical concepts will be treated in depth. Contents: --------- History of R. Language. Objects. Functions. Interface to other dataformats. Dataframes. Classical methods: Mantel-Haenszel etc. Tabulation of data. Logistic regression for case-control-studies. Poisson regression for follow-up studies. Parametrization of models. Graphics in R. Graphical reporting of results. Time-splitting & SMR. Survival analysis in continuous time. Parametric survival models. Interval censoring. Nested and matched case-control studies. Case-cohort studies. Competing risk models. Multistage models. Bootstrap and simulation. Causal inference. The methods will be illustrated using R in practical exercises. The Epi package which is under development for epidemiological analysis in R will be introduced. Participants are required to have a fairly good understanding of statistical principles and some familiarity with epidemiological concepts. The course will be mainly practically oriented with more than half the time at the computer. Price: 500 EUR. (250 EUR for cuntries outside EU-2003 and the like). Application deadline: 1 April 2005.
