...ecessary.
Required qualifications
Your research background should be on a postdoctoral level, preferably on a professor level.
You must hold extensive knowledge in theoretical statistics and also have attained substantial practical experience in the area of applied statistics. Experience with epidemiological research, including research based on use of register information and data obtained directly from study subjects, will be an asset. Ability to attract research funding is an advantage.

COURSE: Statistical practice in Epidemiology with R
Course in
STATISTICAL PRACTICE IN EPIDEMIOLOGY USING R
====================================================
Tartu, Estonia, 26 - 31 May 2005
The course is aimed at epidemiologists and statisticians who wish to
use R for statistical modelling and analysis of epidemiological data.
The course requires basic knowledge of epidemiological concepts and
study types. These will only be briefly reviewed, whereas the more
advanced epidemiological and statistical concepts will be treated in
depth.

Epidemiology Tools
Hi all,
Please help on this. We will be teaching epidemiology using opensource
software. What are R built-in functions or functions in available packages
that are capable of doing these:
a) Logistic regression (glm?)
b) Conditional logistic regression
c) Logistic regression with random effects
d) Beta-binomial regression
e) Poisson regression
f) Weibull regression (eha?)

Analysis of Epidemiological Data Using R
Hi everyone,
I'm studying the manual name: Analysis of Epidemiological Data Using
R and Epicalc, maked by: Virasakdi Chongsuvivatwong and Edward McNeil.
And I can't find the data base that they use in some examples, this are
the names:

epidemiology ode likelihood, hierarchical model
...early with a logNormal error.
I would like to estimate the parameters of this model but as you can
see using an ode solver package and the least square method to fit the
model is not a good idea!
Do you think it is possible to use a bayesian state space model with I
as a Hidden state with this ode epidemiological model ?
If not, it is at least possible to fit this ode model using a
likelihood method instead of using least square ?
Wich R package appears to be the most adapted ?
Thank you!

Sensitivity analysis - looking a tool for epidemiologic research
Stata users can rely on the very neat Episens package for sensitivity
analysis. Briefly, it allows one to specify a diagnostic tool's sensitivity
and specificity and take those into account when estimating a risk ratio,
for instance. A full description of the package is available at

clustering
Hi everybody,
I'm performing a cluster analysis (pkg "cluster") on a
dataset which includes 15 variables: is there a way to
know how much each variable weighs on the final
clustering output?
Thanks

for loops?
Hello R people!
How can one use a for loop (or something similar) in R? As I type in each
line, I get syntax errors... I'm just confused how much to type in at each
">" prompt.
Thanks for your help,
cathy

Making a new package: licence
HI All,
I have written and succesfully uploaded a new package. The licence it is under is 'GPL' --no version. My assumption is, since all the code is written in R the licence R used for R would affect the code (hence my "GPL" stands for "whatever version of the GPL R is under")
I am happy with the licencing I used, but I'd like to ask if there is any transitive

simple random cluster sampling - bootstrapping
Hello all,
I have 300 clusters of fixed size 2 and I need to do resampling with
replacement to run some regression models. I've searched through the
archive and the only thing I found was that I could use 'boot()'
function. but it's not clear to
me how I can do this. Has anyone done it? I would very much appreciate
your help,

Re-order variables listed in nomogram?
Hi,
I am using the function "nomogram" in the rms package for survival analysis.
How is the order in which variables determined and how can I change it? I use it with a cph() model.
Many Thanks

Epicalc package
Dear R-friends,
?
I am using the epicalc package and the manual by V. Chongsuvivatwong "Analysis of epidemiological
data using R and Epicalc" to get the hang of some basic epidemiological analyses.???
?
After running all the analyses of chapter 7, one is supposed to wrap it up by saving the data writing: ?

Q: Suggestions for long-term data/program storage policy?
Dear list,
we are a statistical/epidemiological departement that - after a few
years of rapid growth - finally is getting around to formulate a
general data storage and retention policy - mainly to ensure that we
can reproduce results from published papers/theses easier in the
future, but also with the hope that we get more synergy betwe...
