Hmm, this seems rather unlikely to me ...
Of course the CRAN master site here in Vienna has some donwtimes and
is not available 24 hours 365 days a year, but ``rather often'' is
new. We had only very few downtimes during the last year. The only
thing we have no control over is the internet connection of our
university itself ... but I know that the people of the computing
center are doing their best and downtimes are certainly VERY
competitive compared with other ISP's.
The thing that's puzzling me is the ``all of its mirrors'' ... these
are all completely independent sites at various universities around
the globe (thanks to all the people providing webspace for the R
project!!!) ... and I wouldn't even know how to get all those sites
down at the same time even if I would want to ...
If others also have the impression that the CRAN network is
unreachable quite often: please let us know!
Best,
Fritz
