Is anyone using the subject phone without the proprietary call setup equipment? How do you configure this phone to use the * pbx? I am hoping to go out and buy a couple of phones but the dealer here says I need to spend another $15K or so for the call manager equipment. That phone can have the "call manager" firmware on it (requiring a $15k CM server), or the SIP software load. All you need is access to CCO to get the SIP image, and a tftp server to get it on the phone. If dealers knew anything about technology they would be technicians/engineers, making far more than the salespeople they currently are. Oh...sorry...did I type that? Daryl G. Sean, The dealer is talking utter bol**cks... You simple need the SIP firmware from Cisco and a TFTP server running on a pc. I have a Cisco 7940 G running happily with an * box. Not only that but I'm able to happily use the XML interfacing on the phone for things like a phone directory and services (displaying of information, getting input etc) Slap the dealer with a large trout and then visit ebay to buy your phones...
