OT: cisco 7960G powered by 3com 3CNJPSE
Is anyone using a 3com 3CNJPSE to power a 7960G? I have a couple of 7960Gs and 3CNJPSEs but no combination appears to work. Both phones work fine with a cisco power cube. I get a 47.6V reading across pins 5 and 8 on the patch cable coming from the 3CNJPSE. The network still works through the 3CNJPSE, just no power to the phone until I connec...

Cisco 7960 or 7960G
Is there more than one version of the Cisco 7960? I see some items advertised as 7960 or 7960G, but searching on 7960 only brings up 7960G info, or ambiguous stuff. joe a.

Cisco 7960G, Skinny.conf, and reboots
I could use some skinny/Cisco help here. Was finally able to get the phone registered to * but whenever someone tries to call that phone it freezes and reboots itself. Same thing happens when you pick the handset up off the 7960G; it locks and reboots about 5 sec later. Here is what * shows when I plug the phone in: -- Starting Skinny session from 64.72.107.1 Device SEP000F3442E4A7 is attempting to register -- Device 'Matthew' successfuly registered Requesting capabilities RECEIVED UNKNOWN MESSAGE TYPE: 2...

I'm trying to set-up Asterisk server and I would like to buy 2 SIP phones. Has anybody tried Cisco 7960G? Or 7940? What audio compressions can I use with this phone and Asterisk? Reason why I'm asking is because Cisco supports G.711 and G.729a audio compression (probobaly some tohers but they are not listed on data sheet) and on Asterisk features i found that it supports G.729 but need licence....

7960g 2nd ethernet port cycles on/off
I saw a thread from 2003 that addressed this problem but they didn't post a fix: When I plug my PC into the 2nd ethernet jack on my Cisco 7960g it loses connection on and off for ~30 seconds at a time. I tried playing with setting the speed from auto to 100/full, half, etc. to no avail. Any help on this would be appreciated. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... cisco 7940g, 7960g phone screen sizes?
Anyone have screen size + resolution for the cisco 7940g, 7960g? I'm having a hard time finding it anywhere. No vendors have the information and cisco doesn't list it. All I've been able to find is the rez of the 7940g : 100x145. -Dan

Cisco 7960G phone crashes during SIP upgrade
Hello, I've recently received a Cisco 7960G phone with the factory default SCCP firmware on it. As we're using SIP on our network, the first things i've done was to upgrade but unfortunately the phone just restarted. By looking on the TFTP logs and tcpump output, i've seen that the phone crashed and restarted just after downloadi...

Two operators, 10 rollover lines, Cisco 7960G chanisavail problem
Here's my situation. I have two receptionists that answer incoming lines. Each has a 7960G with 5 incoming lines each. I'm trying to set this up so each line on each phone doesn't utilize call waiting. My problem seems to be that ChanisAvail(Sip/cisco1&Sip/cisco2&Sip/cisco3&Sip/cisco4&Sip/cisco5) always returns cisco1. Here are the sip.conf entries: (mind you,...

Cisco 7960G and *

I seem to remember that there was one series of Cisco IP phones that required Cisco's call manager. Does anyone know if the 7960 will work with Asterisk or does it require call manager?...

Cisco 7960G SIP Registration Timeouts
Hey gang, I have a 7960G in SIP mode. When the phone powers on it registers fine with * and calls can be made to/from the phone. But after a while 'sip show peers' no longer shows an IP for the phone. I can still make outgoing calls but can no longer receive incoming calls (because * has no IP to route the call)....

7960G + Asterisk auto attendant
All, I'm trying to hear the asterisk's auto attendant in its default configuration. According to VoIP Hacks in Chapter 4, I found the following excerpt after successfully configuring my SIP IP Phone (Cisco 7960G): In its default configuration, Asterisk has an auto-attendant that can route calls. To try it out, take the IP phone off the hook and dial 2. Then dial the BudgeTone's Send button. You will hear a friendly voice saying, "Asterisk is an open source, fully featured PBX and IVR platform?.&q...

Opinions on Cisco 7960G, Polycom IP-600, and Snom 360
Hello, We are planning to replace our current PBX with an Asterisk / SIP solution, and are now trying to decide which phones to get. My first thought was the Cisco 7960G, but the Cisco licensing scheme irritates me enough that I'll probably end up going with either the Polycom IP-600 or Snom 360. If anyone has any opinions of these phones, especially in comparison to each other, I would really appreciate hearing them. Is there a reason you would recommend one...

Cisco 7914 Expansion Unit (for 7960G IP Phone) & Help With 7960's Speed-dials
Hi, Has anybody been successful in running the 7914 expansion unit for the Cisco 7960G IP phone? For anybody unaware of what the expansion unit does, it provides 14 additional buttons, with an LCD display. The idea, is that with an expansion unit (a 7960 can take upto 2 of these units), a user can either assign more speed-dial's, or can monitor line status/account status. So,...

Using a Cisco 7960G
Is anyone using the subject phone without the proprietary call setup equipment? How do you configure this phone to use the * pbx? I am hoping to go out and buy a couple of phones but the dealer here says I need to spend another $15K or so for the call manager equipment.
