Depends to some extent on what people plan to use it for. The Windows
version has menus and other GUI elements, but is a pain to develop
extension packages for. Vice versa with Unix plus that it integrates
with all the usual Unix tools. Installing on Solaris is quite easy if
you have the "standard" Open Source utilities (gcc, g77, gmake, perl -
did I forget one?), and Windows is trivial. Why not both?
