I seem to have some problems installing the latest R-Windows. How do you know when the installer has completed its actions. On each occasion I tried to install, the installer has just stopped, but with no message saying "install complete" or something similar. Although, I have R installed and some it seems to work The graphics demo doesn't do anything, though other demos seem to work and help() says it cannot find the file. In the latter instance the zipped Rhelp file seems corrupt and I have now downloaded this three times, but on each occasion it has remained unopenable. However, as the installer hasn't actually conformed that the install is complete, I am not sure whether I have a faulty install, or whether it is something else. Can anyone give me a hand. Try unzipping manually. Turn off any virus checking you may have in place (the most likely culprit). -- Brian D. In-Reply-To: <Pine.GSO.4.31.0102122031150.7377-100000 at auk.stats> Brian, Thanks for prompt help. I'm not sure what is going on, I've now downloaded it to two different machines at two different locations (one NT and one WIN98) and I am having the same problems with both. Having said that, after re-running the install about five times, I now seem to have everything working even though it stalls while installing refman.pdf, which in fact has installed. Virus checker was off during download and installation. Any way, seems to be working. Thanks again, Cheers, Graham S> Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2001 20:33:52 +0000 (GMT) > From: Prof Brian D Ripley <ripley at stats.ox.ac.uk> > To: Graham Smith <myotis at cix.compulink.co.uk> > cc: <r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch> > Subject: Re: [R] Installation > > On Mon, 12 Feb 2001, Graham Smith wrote: > > > I seem to have some problems installing the latest R-Windows. > > > > How do you know when the installer has completed its actions.
