[Samba] Problem installing Printer-Drivers (solved)
This is just a information in case somebody runs into the same issue: I was unable to upload drivers to a samba-server (3.0.28a and 3.0.29) via the windows add printer wizard. The driver files started uploading, then processing stopped saying the driver is not compatible to windows xp. In the logs the following message popped up. However some files could be copied: [2008/05/27 10:30:09, 0] printing/nt_printing.c:move_driver_to_download_area(1920) move_driver_to_download_area: Unable to rename [W32X86/HPBHEALR.DLL] to [W32X86/3/HPBHEALR.DLL] When I created the W32X86/3 directory and copied all driver-files manually, I got the following message on the next installation trial: [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 2] smbd/close.c:close_normal_file(406) root closed file W32X86/3/HPBHEALR.DLL (numopen=0) NT_STATUS_OK [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] smbd/close.c:close_directory(430) [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(41) ==============================================================[2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(42) INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid 8414 (3.0.29-1.1-1781-SUSE-SL10.2) Please read the Trouble-Shooting section of the Samba3-HOWTO [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(44) From: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba3-HOWTO.pdf [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(45) ==============================================================[2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/util.c:smb_panic(1633) PANIC (pid 8414): internal error [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/util.c:log_stack_trace(1737) BACKTRACE: 26 stack frames: #0 /usr/sbin/smbd(log_stack_trace+0x1c) [0x5555557730fc] #1 /usr/sbin/smbd(smb_panic+0x43) [0x5555557731e3] #2 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x5555557610d2] #3 /lib64/libpthread.so.0 [0x2b6002946130] #4 /lib64/libc.so.6(strlen+0x20) [0x2b6003e99d70] #5 /lib64/libc.so.6(_IO_vfprintf+0x3d3f) [0x2b6003e6b34f] #6 /lib64/libc.so.6(__vsnprintf_chk+0xa8) [0x2b6003ef84b8] #7 /usr/sbin/smbd(dbgtext+0xcd) [0x55555575ff4d] #8 /usr/sbin/smbd(close_file+0x5d7) [0x555555618567] #9 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x55555579b5cc] #10 /usr/sbin/smbd(move_driver_to_download_area+0x6c0) [0x55555579dc00] #11 /usr/sbin/smbd(_spoolss_addprinterdriver+0xf9) [0x5555556adca9] #12 /usr/sbin/smbd(_spoolss_addprinterdriverex+0xa9) [0x5555556ae279] #13 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x55555569d5e5] #14 /usr/sbin/smbd(api_rpcTNP+0x169) [0x5555556cfbc9] #15 /usr/sbin/smbd(api_pipe_request+0x168) [0x5555556d0108] #16 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x5555556cae2b] #17 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x5555556cb2b5] #18 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x5555555d5c03] #19 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x5555555d5fe2] #20 /usr/sbin/smbd(reply_trans+0x700) [0x5555555d6e50] #21 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x555555628a04] #22 /usr/sbin/smbd(smbd_process+0x7b1) [0x555555629971] #23 /usr/sbin/smbd(main+0xa20) [0x555555827450] #24 /lib64/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf4) [0x2b6003e43ae4] #25 /usr/sbin/smbd [0x5555555bc739] [2008/05/27 11:04:14, 0] lib/fault.c:dump_core(181) dumping core in /var/log/samba/cores/smbd As I could not find any related issues online, I started searching on the client side and fixed the problem turning of my NOD32 3.0.636.0 anti-virus while uploading the driver files! It's a crash bug within Samba and I *hate* that :-). Thanks, Jeremy.
