Samba - Unix password sync
Hi,
in the last weeks I've unsuccessfully tried to get Samba (2.0.5a) -
Unix (Suse 6.2) password sync working. Maybe somebody can give me a
hint, what's wrong. Enclosed you'll find additional information.
Thank you for helping,
Johannes

I have installed a Debian / Lenny with Samba 3.2.5 and put it in an

permissions to write while I connect from a Windows- or Linux-Client.

Saving files with Opera to a Samba share, printing
Hello!
Whenenver I try to save a downloaded file with Opera [6.x] to a Samba
share [2.2.x], Opera (and also the windows-explorer) freezes. Having
set log-level to 1, I get the following message after a while.
Sometimes, but not always, Opera continues working after 30seconds or
so. I have the same behaviour in Samba 2.2.2, 2.2.3a and 2.2.4-pre. My
Server is running SuSE 7.3 with the 2.4.16

Help: Adding printer drivers by RPC fails (NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL)
Hi there,
I've had a mighty battle to get printing working with Samba in the last two
days.
Firstly, to get anything working at all (using CUPS), I had to use
disable spoolss = yes
use client driver = yes
Once I finally managed to get the printer (an HP LaserJet Series II) working
with locally installed drivers, I turned my interest to getting it to work
with either Windows drivers stored

How to force Windows 95 to use specific Domain?
Hi,
we' ve installed a Samba server in an austrian school. To have a good
access control to the network, everyone have to authenticate against
our samba server. Now the following problem occurs: When somebody
enters another domain name in the login-mask's domain-field, the person
can easily use this PC with all users/password combinations.
Does somebody know, how to turn off the

Permission problems on Mac OS X
I know this might be half OT, but nontheless Samba is involved.
A customer of mine has two Macs with Mac OS X 10.5 and is sharing a
folder on one of them.
We'd like to avoid any permission problem, so I put the followinf in
smb.conf:
create mode=0777
force create mode=0777
directory mode=0777
force directory mode=0777
This is usually enough to achieve what I want, with other OSes.

Hi all,
This is a re-post of a question I originally submitted 10/22. There have
been no responses, so I am trying again as this problem has us stalled in
our tracks re managing printer drivers with rpcclient.

Hello,
I posted 2 weeks ago this problem and it is currently not working.
First thanks a lot for all the hints and helps.
In the attached file I have added (hopefully) all informations.
To summarize:
I want to setup a print server, which allows the user to
download the necessary files for new printers.
Installed are (on top of suse 7.1) samba 2.2.6_pre2 and cups 1.1.15_1.

imprints driver upload failure on 2.2.8a
I installed samba 2.2.8a and imprints 0.0.9b on a freshly up2date Redhat

I tried to install a driver using:
install_printer_drivers.pl -host imprints.sourceforge.net 'HP LaserJet 8100'
The driver files were copied into the /etc/printers/W32X86. But samba
created another directory,
/etc/printers/W32X86/2 with uid and gid of nobody, nobody. It then reported
an "ERROR!" and

Problem registering printer driver files with samba
Hello,
Samba version 3.0.23c on Solaris 9.
I can't seem to register printer driver files with samba using
rpcclient. The problem is that NEWLINEs are not escaped, so I can't
specify all the files I need to for a particular printer. Also, I can't
use a Windows box with the add printer wizard as the printer insists on
using it's own installer.
In essence this is a bug, either

I'm trying to follow the procedure in the Samba 3 HOWTO in Chapter 21 to

got as far as extracting the drivers from a Windows machine and am
trying to register them with Samba using the rpcclient adddriver command.
