Hi all, I've been working on setting up a samba domain per department here based on a central ldap server with some sucess. I've setup samba using a mysql passdb, which works fine. I've also been able to get the samba domains to trust, and be trusted by an nt 4 domain without any problems. So everthing appears to be ok.... What I'd like to be able to do is to get AD domains to trust samba domains, so the user account details in samba are accessible to departmental domains, so they can have the benefits of AD with the central username/passwords. In testing, I can tell an AD domain to trust the samba domain, such that users can log-in to the samaba domain whilst their machine is part of the AD domain. If I then try and setup permissions/file shares on the AD domain servers using the samba domain to provide user credentials, it all breaks ;-( I can see the users, select them, and click on ok. Then it pauses, and throws up the message "Unable to lookup user names for display." Anyone here ever heard of this before and if so, can it be fixed? -- David Barker University of Exeter IT Services http://www.ex.ac.uk/its/pcbackup/ e-mail: pcbackup@ex.ac.uk ITS helpdesk: (01392 26) 3934 Mobile: 07717 303809 jabber id: dave@jabber.ex.ac.uk
