Trusted domains with ldapsam_compat in samba 3
Hi all :-)
We are currently hosting a SAMBA domain that provides login & file
serving for public clusters around the university campus. We are using
Samba 3.0.10, with an LDAP server that uses a samba 2.x schema.
A department would now like to trust our domain for authentication, and
use their own domain to administer their windows boxes. Will we be able
to create a domain trust account

Software caused connection abort
Dears All,
I have used rsync on Cygwin for a long time to backup data on my WinXP
laptop to a NAS server. Several days ago I had a problem with my user
account on the Laptop and I needed to create a new account and delete
the old one.
Fortunately my data were on a separate partition (fat32) so I did not
lose anything.
Now when I try to use rsync again on the same data I always get the

Help
Hi to all,
We are a bit of newbes to imap etc, so may be we just not doing it
right. Nevertheless,
We have compiled dovecot to run under Solaris 8/9 for IPv6 test. We are
going crazy.
After a successful compilation, the troubles really began.
Solaris 9
1. Every?time we reboot- the directory /var/run/dovecot/auth is gone
????
2. After the dir is created manually, the server starts.

Hi Richard;
Are you doing the operations on these files from the MPE prompt, or are you
in the posix shell at the time of the edit/pipe, whatever? And what MPE
filetype are you working on? Problem is that samba

Problems with large trusted domains?
Hi,
I've got Winbind running (or so I think) on my Solaris 8 server using Samba
2.2.3a. Whenever I do a long directory listing on a directory that contains
a file placed via the samba share by an NT user on the trusted domain, the
SUN box just hangs there. It acts like it is searching the database, but
after three or four minutes I just CRTL + C it. Do you think this is
winbind not working

Shares within Shares
Is it possible to have a share within a share, or to force group on
directories within a share?
What I am trying to do is set up departmental shares, but find that having
them all in the root list of shares looks messy (too many shares :P )
What would be preferable, would be to have a [departments] share, then put
a share for each department within that share.
Just using directories within

The way I deal with this is to use SetGID.
The way this works is that you set the setgid bit on a directory,
and any file or directory created under it inherits it's group, rather
than the primary group of the process creating it.
Directories created under this directory also inherit the SetGID bit.
This means that if you have one share, with all the top level
directories in it.

Moving new email from the mail spool to the inbox
We are considering switching from the Washington UW IMAP server to
Dovecot for performance reasons, but we make use of the feature in the
UW server that automatically moves new email from the mail spool to the
IMAP INBOX. Has anyone implemented this in Dovecot, or considered
implementing it ? We have a large number of users, so cannot easily
change the way that we deliver email.

File locking problems and duplicate emails with the snarf plugin
Two weeks ago we switched all our IMAP users (around 25,000) from the
Washington IMAP server to Dovecot, and since then there have been
several occasions when reading new email just hangs, and duplicate
emails appear. We are using the 'snarf' plugin to copy new email to the
inbox, and it looks as though the problems are caused by file locking.
We have been using the Washington IMAP server

Windows dll compilation (mingw32): how to find R.h and other head er files when sketching short functions
Sorry, this seems like a particularly stupid question, but here goes. It
relates to some "sketching" work I'm doing under Windoze.
I can only get my C code to find R.h and friends if I shift these header
files files and folders into the analogous mingw32 folders. This seems a
rather clumsy way of doing things, and I wondered what I've missed? (I'm
using the gcc -02

I thought Rcmd SHLIB mycode.c should take care of that, no?

Stale NFS file handle and duplicated messages
We recently moved all our users from the Washington IMAP server to
Dovecot. There has been a substantial improvement in performance, but
some users are reporting duplicate messages, and we see 'Stale NFS file
handle' errors in the syslog. Does anyone know what would cause this ?
The errors relate to the index file, eg.

Limit users storing BIG files
Hi All,
I am using Samaba for my network users and I run out of space soon as so
many users store BIG files on the share folders.
Is there a way to specify the max size for a file that can be stored using
Samaba?
Or At least max size for a folder will also help.
