Hello All. I'm using Windows 2000 prof on a NT domain with samba as the PDC. The printer is connected to the samba server via a usb port. I've tried all that seemed obvious to me, and still the same message. Ive made the printer share directory belong to root and group owner every, which has everybody who should print belonging to that group and chmod 770. I've made the printer$ share guest ok, assigned a valid account as a guest account, and even added everyone to the printer admin list. What else could give "access denied" error? Thanks, Trevor. -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed
Need more info What version of Samba ? If 2.2.5 have you applied the printing patches ? If not 2.2.5 why not, it has the best support for w2k yet? Have you searched the new group for similar problems ? Make sure they also have permission to write to the print spooler directory. /var/spool/samba I think is the default -Larry Engleman The Burgiss Group 201-795-5144 -----Original Message----- From: Trevor Fraser [mailto:trevor@systematic.co.za] Sent: Monday, July 29, 2002 2:55 PM To: samba@lists.samba.org Subject: [Samba] Printing:access denied. [Samba] Win2k file Synchronization with Samba PDC. Offline Browsing Problem
Hello All, I am having a small problem with some of my users. I am moving my office from a Windows NT workgroup to a Samba PDC. I have a few users that use the off line browsing feature on Windows. This allows them to access files when they are no longer connected to the network. Essentially keeping a cached copy of the file server on their local drive. My user had marked certain folders on the server for offline browsing. When he is logging off the network, win2k goes through and makes sure everything is synchronized. He will then go home and log in under the domain again, and use a cached copy as the PDC is unavailable. All the offline folders show up as well as all the files, but none of them are accessible. He can come back to work, login to the domain and access the files again no problem. I think I have narrowed the problem down to: 1. The permissions on the file are being checked against on the PDC, but the user is not actually logged onto the domain and there is no PDC to actually check the rights. Would one assume I am correct? Sooo....if anybody understood what I said:)...does anybody have solution? Cheers and Thank You Sono -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed
