[Samba] Can't browse network neighborhood after changing network address on server
Hi I'm resending this message in the hope that i can at least find out out if nobody has run across this problem. It is quite a serious problem since we deploy many samba servers frequently. If no one on this list knows the answer(or the answer is obvious) please point me to the appropriate list. I seem to have a recurring problem with browsing the network. I set up a file server in my workshop. It is mostly installed using a apt-proxy i have installed here. When i first install i use DHCP. Before i take the computer on-site i change the ip address to what it will use when installed into the clients office. The logs show that it is a master browser on the right subnet. I can access computers through the find computer search in win clients. But i get a message "unable to browse network" when trying to browse. The clients are not using any other protocol. If i stop Samba the clients are able to see each other. The version i am using is 2.2.3a-6. On previous versions i was able to completely uninstall and reinstall and this would solve the problem but since using woody this doesn't seem to work at all. My theory is when Debian is installed it creates some files somewhere with current configuration settings and after i change the subnet these setting stay the same. # Global parameters [global] netbios name = <omitted> encrypt passwords = Yes obey pam restrictions = Yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n syslog = 0 log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 1000 logon script = logon.bat logon drive = h: os level = 65 preferred master = True domain master = True dns proxy = No wins support = Yes invalid users = root valid users = @users admin users = @users read only = No create mask = 0775 directory mask = 0775 tail -f /var/log/samba/log.nmb [2002/05/30 15:16:25, 0] nmbd/nmbd_become_lmb.c:become_local_master_stage2(404) ***** Samba name server <omitted> is now a local master browser for workgroup WORKGROUP on subnet 192.168.128.1 -- Scott Middleton Linux Services WA www.linuxwa.com.au scott@linuxwa.com.au ph 9331 8051 fax 9331 4070 Stop being a Microserf and join the revolution of the penguin.
