Hello,
I am compiling xen 3.3.1 with linux 2.6.18.8 as domain 0. I am able to
compile this successfully on a PAE enabled TOSHIBA machine (However having
problems with loading graphics drivers but able to boot with runlevel 3).
But since the graphics problem could be because of non standard hardware
that comes with Toshiba laptop, I tried compiling the same on an IBM laptop
. This system does not have PAE enabled CPU. Hence I disabled PAE option in
the config file before compiling xen on this. Still when I boot into the
compiled dom0, I get the error message,
"Kernel Panic - not syncing; cannot execute a PAE enabled kernel on a
PAE-less CPU!"
I also read in a discussion forum that xen 3 and above is by default PAE
aware and causes problems running on non PAE systems. Is it true that Xen
3.3.1 cannot be compiled at all on a non PAE system?
However it is to be noted that, in the non PAE supporting system, I am able
to boot, if I use the prebuilt xen 3.3.1 which can be installed from the
distribution DVD (openSuse 11.0). I am getting the above error message only
when I manually compile it.
Could anybody help me out on this.
Thank you.
Regards
Ananth
