Hey, Ive just replaced Windows 7 on my laptop with Ubuntu Natty. I'm an experienced computer user with more than half a brain so i am usually good at getting things to work but I absolutely cannot figure out how to install a game Ive downloaded so could someone talk me through it please. Mastering this game will lead on to others. I have downloaded Lords of the Realm II in ISO format. I have spent a day reading pages which haven't helped and have tried getting to grips with Wine and PlayOnLinux and still don't understand it. Finally earlier I installed Furius ISO thinking about a similar principle I successfully used in Windows to mount games but still not happening. I expect its not even that complicated so can someone talk me through it successfully, once I understand the basics of doing it ill be away. Installing to windows is not an option as the whole drive is now partitioned to Ubuntu and i cant figure out how to put a windows partition back on even if I wanted to. cheers, gary

This forum is for plain Wine. Try reading the FAQ. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-f3515230c198befe0279d32c448d9c8da63be66f

Find a legal source for this game and then we can provide help. This game is sold by many outlets and is not available, legally, for download. Second: We do have an applications database where other Wine Users share information on how to make programs work with Wine. Please avail yourself of it. James
Well, in fact there seems to be a download version provided by gog.com, though I don't know, if it's an iso, see http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18655 About your ISO/mounting issue: Furius ISO should give you a path (mount point) where the iso is mounted, something like "/mnt/wherever/". You'd just have to open a terminal and cd on command line to that directory, "cd /mnt/wherever/". Maybe some additional command will be necessary to change to the subdirectory, where the .exe lies, there you'd issue a command like "wine whatever.exe". For copy protection (afair GOG.com doesn't use any): Mounting an iso under linux doesn't emulate a complete CD/DVD drive, you might need CDEmu (similar to Alcohol, Daemon Tools) or need to burn to a real CD/DVD. Some advanced copy protection schemes might still not work without nocd crack. If all else fails, you may consider using VMWare Player (preferred for DX9 games) or VirtualBox to install Win in a virtual machine.
