[1.3.13]-Valve's STEAM Games Do Not Work... Hi, I've mentioned this several times already and did not receive a response. (either it will be fixed or some work-around) I can't play many games when using Valve's STEAM client under current Wine 1.3.13 32bit using Ubuntu 10.10 64bit. If I run Wine full screen and run a game from STEAM I can't get the keyboard working (have to turn off computer). If I run Wine in an emulated virtual desktop the mouse escapes the game's window which makes playing any First Person Shooter impossible. I can't be the only person who has this problem. Can it be researched and fixed or is there some known work-around. I prefer to run the games in an emulated virtual desktop. Thanks! Jesse

Try a resolution that's as close to it as possible, or maybe even a bit bigger. As long as your mouse pointer can't escape the game area, this should help. By the way, why don't you just run the game in windowed mode instead of a fullscreen mode inside a virtual desktop? It has the same effect, except now the game expects that your mouse can exit the screen so it may behave differently. Alt+Enter will put any Valve game in windowed mode, and it's an option in the graphics settings...
> The game I am trying to play is: "Deus Ex: Invisible War"Oh. Well, you said Valve's Steam games so I assumed you meant Valve's games, not Ion Storm's. So is there no windowed option for this game, either?> The game only supports a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 > while my monitor's resolution is 1680x1050.Try lowering your screen resolution. Are you sure your screen or graphics card don't support 1280x1024? Mine do, and my monitor has a native resolution of 1680x1050 too...
JeZ-l-Lee wrote:> "Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their window" does not seem to be working. Can this option be fixed in the next release of Wine?No it won't be fixed any time soon. It's been broken for past 5 years.
