Hi,
today, Winamp unaskedly notified me of a new release, v2.78. I checked the what's-new-page on winamp.com (it does only mention a few fixes and cddb2 support, not that I needed that) and downloaded the full install, hoping that Ogg Vorbis support is finally included. D'oh, since I installed it into the 2.77 install directory will all the plugins already installed, I can't really tell whether Vorbis support was included now or not. But then, supporting a new format would be worth advertising, so I assume that it would've been mentioned ... Does anyone happen to know what's going on? I searched the Winamp forum for "Ogg OR Vorbis", finding only threads unrelated to a default Ogg support. Originally, support was planned for 2.76 already (according to Peter), but postponed due to some obscure things I didn't understand.
Moritz -- _______________________________________________________________________ "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security" - Benjamin Franklin --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Yes, Nullsoft was bought by AOL Time Warner. So, I was very careless when encouraging Peter. I should have known better. I feel really sorry for Peter since his plug-in is, without doubt, a gem. This is really a shame.>I think I'll start looking for a new win32 player. This situation is really a shame. However, the bitter lesson is that we should be always careful of what the third companies thinking. Anyway, even if the plug-in is not packed in the Winamp starting package, still the plug-in itself is highly recommendable. Jack will have to find really a good alternative by an understanding company to match it. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Check out Yahoo! Shopping and Yahoo!
