Vorbis in Windows Media Player 9, (partial) success
As I said on http://wiki.xiph.org/ClientSupport I managed to get WMP9 under Windows 2003 to work with OGG vorbis files. Requisite : OggDS 0.9.9.5 - they can be opened with the Open... dialog and WMP does not complain any more that it is an unsupported file format - they can be dragged from explorer into WMP and WMP will play them without any complaint - they can be added to the media library.

Ogg Vorbis DirectShow status ?
Hi! What is the status of DirectShow support (read: playy vorbis in Windows Media Player 9 or 10 ) ? The vorbis.com web pages only link to some ancient web pages (xwmedia and tobias). I remember there was a wiki page about setting this up (partially written by me), but can't find it any more. Was the idea of playing ogg/vorbis in DS applications dropped ? Regards, David

OggDrop version ?
How can I find out the version of the OggDrop program ? It has no version info ( no About box ) and the exe file properties has no Version tab. What version of the vorbis libraries is it using ? The same goes for OggDropXP ( it is a bit better , it has an about box with it version and compile date, but still no info about the used ogg/vorbis libs and no Version property for the file ) Regards,

Vorbisgain in OggDropPXd
Hi (hope I am in the right mailing list!) I really can't figure out how to use Vorbisgain in OggdropXPd - it doesn't seem to work so far. Can Someone pls. explain detailed (steps) what to do when using Vorbisgain in OggdropXPd? I understand the settings for Vorbisgain are in "decoding options"... why? What I really want is the function of Mp3Gain on Ogg-files, and I thought

Fwd: Re: WAVE loader for oggenc and oggdrop]
I am resending this ( for the third time, mispelled vorbis-dev-@xiph.org ), because the last time it didn't make it ( it didn't appear on the web archive at www.xiph.org , the archive of vorbis-list for the current month is broken BTW ) -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [vorbis-dev] WAVE loader for oggenc and oggdrop Date: Wed, 01 Aug 2001 13:44:47 +0200 From: David Balazic

WAVE loader for oggenc and oggdrop
<LET OBJECT=STEAM DIRECTION=OFF> Here is an improved WAVE file loader for oggenc/oggdrop : int load_wave(char * filename, void * buffer) { fprintf(stderr,"unsupported WAVE file format !\n"); return -1; } It has the same functionality as the current code, but is shorter, has less ( zero ? ) bugs, is easier to maintain etc. </LET> I created a RIFF/WAVE ( commonly known

(Un)Usefulness of Vorbisgain?
I've just Replaygained several of my Vorbis albums with Vorbisgain, ranging from 80's metal to present day soft rock. What I don't understand is why does Vorbisgain actually make all tracks QUIETER? I see an average of -7db on most albums. And after that, not only are they substantially quieter than my MP3s (which is a pain), but it also fails to really "even out" the volume.

Any encoding speedups ?
Hi! I think some more speed at encoding would be very welcome. So, is there any work on faster vrobis encoders ? For x86 ( windows, linux ) platform ? Currently I use OggDrop , which uses ogg library 1.0final, on Pentium III 866 MHz and Athlon 900 MHz. -- David Balazic -------------- "Be excellent to each other." - Bill S. VorbisGain
Is an "official" vorbisgain source tarball available anywhere for *nix? Seems like everything I've found is a pre-built windows binary... Thanks in advance! Regards, Owen G. Is Vorbis prone to clipping?
Hi, with the Lame MP3 encoder I reduce the amplitude of the input signal prior to encoding with the --scale option to prevent clipping that can be introduced due to resampling errors. Is Vorbis prone to this sort of clipping? <p>Headless --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a

Oggdrop issue
Hello all, When I drag the Oggdrop window and pull it around, it disappears from my desktop - it's still visible on the tray, though. Anybody else noticed that? (I'm using RC2 oggdrop from vorbis.com, under Win2K SP2) -- Cheers, _____________________________ SyP (_Szabolcs Péter PGP Key ID: _____________________)ICQ# 69968772 0x098AEC13 --- >8 ----

Easier OggDrop version
Hi. I think that the vorbis team should use this version of OggDrop RC3 as the official OggDrop RC3, because the menu interface is easier to use (& you can see what kind of mode you have chosen). http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/BQoggdropC1.zip See this thread for more info: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=4683 <p>I only have one problem now: what

Some minor refactoring of Oggdrop build environment
I performed a minor amount of refactoring of the build environment for oggdrop. These include: Action: Added a workspace to manage project files and dependencies Purpose: To build all dependent libraries before attempting to build oggdrop -- i.e. provide one-step build process. Instead of opening "oggdrop.dsp", open "oggdrop.dsw" Action: Added

oggdrop issues
It may just be me, because Windows is behaving very strangely right now, but it looks like oggdrop generates the same file for both 64 and 80 kbit modes, both are 64. Also, I think somebody must have assumed that Windows can multitask. Should oggdrop perhaps lower its priority or something? I can do it manually, but it makes things crawl, and sound cut out, if I don't. --- >8 ---- List

I was wondering how I would go about contributing to oggdrop... I don't have a lot of experience(read: newbie) with open-source projects on the net... so any help is appreciated...
