similar to: Can anyone use steam right now?

Hello folks, I've a problem. I just installed Jaunty, and, thanks to Wine, the latest version of Steam. But, after the installation, it doesn't open. It just stays in processes as "Steam.exe" @ sleeping. Any solutions? (I tried running it on both XP and Vista mode)

I am running wine 1.1.43 in Debian Squeeze (32 bit) and still receive this error. My console gets flooded with the message "fixme:threadpool:RtlQueueWorkItem Flags 0x4 not supported" after I login to steam and as soon as the main steam menu appears, it crashes. Has anyone else still received problems with the new steam GUI?

I had Steam/TF2 working. Using Suse 11.1 64-bit, Nvidia card/driver, 4Gb RAM, 2.6 Intel Quad CPU. ALSA sound (pulse audio uninstalled), Windows Vista, full settings in winecfg. My TF2 crashed and when I started Steam again, the Steam update downloaded and installed. Then Steam wouldn't start any more. I tried a new .wine dir. Followed instructions for removing/reinstalling Steam. Nada.

I have tried multiple times to connect to steam without success after updating to 1.1.8. Internet connection works, as I can access pages in firefox, and steam is not down, as I can log in through a vm with no problems. Currently running Ubuntu 8.10 with Wine 1.1.8 Any suggestions?

When ever I try to run FEAR 2 or Half-Life in Steam the "Preparing to launch" window comes up and then disappears. I assume every game I have will do this same thing, but it takes way to long to install anything in Steam. I just installed steam+TMN and it seems to run quite well apart from sound. I tried switching to OSS and got not sound while on ALSA I get the occasional "click" and thats about it. Hey I managed to walkaround that you cant run the MSI installer for steam in Wine 1.01 , but i cant start the steam program. First i got that it crashed in update but i walkaround that as well, now i cant start the program steam, no error messege or anything.... Any ideas?
