Newbie Polycom: IP601 console with expansion module
I was reading a Polycom brochure and it appears that there is really no
special receptionist console and the console is basically a IP601. Is
this correct?
The only difference is to purchase an expansion module in order to have
more shortcut keys for the girls.
So, apart from the hardware, as far as the dialplan is concerned, do I
just treat the receptionist console as any other extension?

Newbie Polycom: Cannot conference with >10 digit 3rd party
Calling all Polycom gurus:
I am using Polycom IP601 phones with Asterisk 1.4.21.2
In all Polycom phones, I set the following in sip.cfg.
<dialplan dialplan.impossibleMatchHandling="2">
</dialplan>
(I leave the digitmap unchanged because I thought setting
impossibleMatchHandling will ignore the bitmap)
...so that I could dial any number by entering a variable-size

Newbie Polycom: Where is SoundPointIPWelcome.wav used?
When I downloaded the sip and bootrom from Polycom website, I noticed a
file called SoundPointIPWelcome.wav. However, I have no idea where and
when it was used. I played the wav file but I have never heard the
phone using this wav file before. Does anyone know what it is used for?

Newbie Polycom: DND answered as "on the phone" instead of "not available"
I am using Polycom IP600 phone. If I call a phone which has DND (do not
disturb) enabled, the message to the caller will be "The person on
extension ... is on the phone, please leave a message ...".
Is there a way to pick the "person ... not available" message instead?

Newbie Polycom: DHCP/boot server supporting 2 models of phones
I have a question about DHCP and boot server supporting more than 1
model of Polycom phones.
According to Polycom "standards", Polycom phone boots up to get a DHCP
address and at the same time getting a boot server string (with username
and password) to logon to boot server to download SIP, bootROM and etc.
That is okay if there is only one type of phone (that requires a

Taking a Polycom IP601 home
Make sure you set nat=yes for the sip user. Asterisk will then send replies back to the source IP address, rather than what's in the Via: header.

Polycom IP601 call parking
One more Polycom IP601 question please (sorry for the long intro here
to document) ...
In order to closely approximate the behavior of the previous telephone
system that many of the users are familiar with, I have set up call
parking like this:
- features.conf [general] section contains:
parkext => ** ; What extension to dial to park
parkpos => 10-11 ; What

polycom queue bug
I'm having a problem with polycom ip601.
If I Dial() directly eg Dial(SIP/4000) it works perfectly. The polycom
rings, and stops ringing as soon as I hang up.
But if the phone is called via a queue, the polycom continues to ring long
after I've hung up.
Other phones in the queue (grandstream, cisco) don't have this problem,
and stop ringing properly when I hang up.

Call Fowarding and Polycom Phone
I did not really spend too much time on looking at call forwarding and
wonder if someone could help me.
It seems that for setting call forwarding on the Polycom phone itself,
only "forward all calls" will work. The other call forward function
like "forward if no-answer for n rings" or "forward if busy" does not
work at all on the phone.
If that is the case, it

Newbie Polycom: IP600 Headset Problem
I have been testing with Polycom IP600 phones for a month or so.
I found out that there are frequent problems with the handset.
The problem is I can hear the other end but the other end cannot hear
me.
I have already downloaded the latest bootROM 3.1.3 and sip 2.1.2
However, there are no problems with the headset or speaker phone.
Has anyone encountered such problems before?
Thanks.

I was wondering if you found any solution to it. I would really appreciate
if you could share your solution.
Thanks,

discrepancy between CDR clid and Polycom IP601 clid
Hi,
Returning to my office I find two "missed calls" (from autodialers) that
my IP601 displays as originating from 01111111111. However the CDR
database recorded the call this way:

Display name when dialing on Polycom
I have a customer who wants the Polycoms to display the CallerID name of
the person they called on the phone they are calling from.
The receiving phone gets CID just fine, but the calling phone doesn't
display a name. For instance, if you dialed extension 3000, the Polycom
Displays "3000(3000)" Instead of "John Doe (3000)".
How do I set that up?

OT: Polycom IP501 and Speed Dials
Hi gang,
I know this is off-topic for Asterisk, but I don't know where else to
ask: I've setup a central directory.xml file for my Polycom IP501 phones
with a list of all the internal extensions. None of them have <sd>1</sd>
as I don't want to enable any speed dials, just have a list in each phone.
However, when a phone boots, it seems to pick a random entry and put it

Polycom 301's drop last two digits of dialed number
Hi All,
Having a rather annoying problem with the Polycom 301 phones, suspect it
to be my dialplan.
Basically if you lift the receiver off the handset and dial a number, it
will not let you dial a number longer than 10 digits (Can see this being
acceptable in US, but in UK its a right pain). As soon as the 10th digit
is entered, it starts to dial and the number is invalid. If the phone is
