Asterisk RPMS for RH9 + RH7.3
Hello all,
It's my birthday today, so as my present I would like everyone
possible to download and test my updated set of RPMS for Asterisk 0.7.1.
By popular request, I installed and built a set of RPMS for RedHat 9.0,
and in the process fixed a bunch of issues from the initial build. I have
also updated and will be maintaining a page on the Asterisk Wiki located

Polycom 330 + Asterisk, phone locks up. * key will do it
Hello all,
We have an Asterisk server that has worked without issue for a while.
Before, only Sipura and Polycom 500 series phones were used.
Recently, we've added a few POE switches and 20 or so Polycom 330's.
The 330's seem to lock up often. One easy way to do this is by hitting
the * key. I looked thru the XML files for dialplan and what not, nothing
stood out.

Asterisk 0.7.1 RH 7.3 RPMS Released
Hello all,
Per my last message to the list, and my promise to the Developers
that I'd create RPMS if they released 0.7.0, I would like to announce the
availability of experimental RPMS for Asterisk release 0.7.1. These are
targeted at RedHat 7.3 systems, running the latest Kernel release
(2.4.20-28.7). As the RPMS mature and people submit comments, changes,
updates and patches, I will

Polycom 430 , 501 and 550
Hi List;
Can someone advise me if Polycom support H323 that
work fine with Asterisk? And wether this H323 Polcyom
devices more costly than SIP Polycom.
Also, I am not able to know if new Polycom come with
PoE adaptor so no need for PoE Switch (can use normal
switch that does not support PoE)? Do I need any
special cable for Polycom or normal Ethernet cable?

TE405P w/ Intel SE7210TP1_E Motherboard
Hello,
I'm looking at building a couple new PRI Gateway boxes using
TE405P cards, and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences (good or
bad) with the Intel SE7210TP1_E motherboards from Intel. General Technics
builds some really nice (and cost effective) 1U servers based on the

Polycom 501 power over ethernet
When I bought two Polycom 501 SIP phones, I naively thought they were
Power-over-Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) because they were "powered over
ethernet." Silly me.
Polycom must have some odd voltage or funny way of injecting the
power, because the POE switch I bought for them (Netgear F@510P)
won't power them, though if I use the Polycom-supplied AC adapter and
ethernet power

Choosing a VoIP Phone
Greetings all,
My next step is to purchase a nice VoIP phone for my desk. I have a grandstream, and the sound is great, but I'm looking for more of an office style phone, preferably that can handle multiple lines, has a more flexible display (i.e. name as well as number). SIP would be preferable.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Eric

7 points of comparison Polycom 430/501 and Aastra 480i. Which one to choose ?
I need to provide a 80 people office with VOIP.
I want to commit to one vendor Polycom or Aastra. Price of the phones
is not a factor in the decision. The quality of the phones is the
factor.
Some of the features that I am evaluating on are: (arranged in order
of priority)
1. Sound quality
2. complete product line with conference phone and receptionist phone
(not on Aastra)
3. cordless (not on

Debian Unstable Claims Asterisk 1.0-1
Howdy,
I just did an "apt-get dist-upgrade" on my Debian unstable box,
and noticed that the Asterisk version appears to be 1.0-1 in the unstable
tree. I KNOW that 1.0 hasn't been released yet, so I am wondering who is
responsible for the Debian packages? This will be VERY VERY confusing for
people and it should be corrected ASAP.

Polycom phones
I have a couple of Polycom phones, bootrom 2.5.0, SIP 1.3.1.0056. Works
great with Asterisk when I power on the phone. However, after some time,
say an hour, I cannot receive calls on this phone. On Asterisk, when I
do "database show", it does show the phone in there, but it cannot reach
the phone. Is there a way to keep alive the connection with Polycom?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Polycom Power
I have a 501 with traditional power and a 301 with PoE. I rightfully assumed
that the traditional power from the 501 would work on the 301.
How do I get the PoE to work? Do I use the Polycom PoE cable in addition to
whatever PoE injection method I use? I have a Cisco PoE injector that works
on my Cisco AP350 and my 7960. No combination of this injector, the Polycom
cable, and the phone result in

Which IP phones have best voice quality, preferably under $150
Hi all,
I have to buy some IP phones. Previously I have used Grandstream GXP-2000,
Budgetone 101 and Linksys SPA-841. I always had problems with sound quality
with all of them, and I was always of the opinion that it were the phones
which were not good. In GXP-2000 deployment of about 50 phones, some work
good, some have sound problems like words missing, clicking sounds when
talking, and some

Polycom 600 phone
>From their website, the key difference between the polycom 500 and 600 phones is the number of "lines" they support. What does this mean in terms of asterisk? Do I have to have a seperate extension for each of these lines or ?
Also, slightly off-topic, how does the 500 POE "optional" cable work? Is this similar to have a power box on your desk, or is just a differently
