Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello, I am looking at the Polycom phones. The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over the ip500 and ip300.. Is it worth the extra dollars? Polycom IP600 - Flashing clock and date?
Hello, I have configured my polycom ip600 and ip500. The phone works well. But the clock is wrong and flashes the whole time. Drives me nuts! I have set the time offset on the DHCP / boot server. 36000 (I'm in Australia!) It doesn't seem to help... Mike

Polycom Buddies in 1.6.6
All, Slightly off topic. Polycom released their SIP software version 1.6.6 for their phones recently. I was under the impression that this release fixed a previous limitation where the phones would only watch 7 buddies, ie send 7 sip subscriptions to Asterisk. I have configured a phone directory to watch 30 or so appearances, and it still seems to only be sending 7 subscriptions to Asterisk.

MWI not working on Polycom Phones
Hi All - I'm running version SIP version 1.3.4 on various IP300, IP500, and IP600 Polycom phones. I'm having a tough time with MWI. I thought I remembered somebody on the list saying that they had it working, but I can't find it in the archives now. I have all the phones configured for MWI as specified in the WIKI: ipdmid.cfg: up.oneTouchVoiceMail="1"

Choosing a VoIP Phone
Greetings all, My next step is to purchase a nice VoIP phone for my desk. I have a grandstream, and the sound is great, but I'm looking for more of an office style phone, preferably that can handle multiple lines, has a more flexible display (i.e. name as well as number). SIP would be preferable. Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric

Conference Phone
Any advice on a good conference phone that works with Asterisk? I like the Cisco line and was wondering if anyone has used the 7935 or 7936 phones. From what I can tell they don't have a sip load. Has anyone verified this or gotten an ETA from Cisco? Chad -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Which IP phone to use in Australia
Hi, all I am in Australia and I have to setup Asterisk in few offices. There will be IP phones in each office and I must be able to call between offices. I need actual handsets. I need "standard" handsets to be used by people. Those must support features like CID, call forward, etc. --- your normal office feature set. Also I need some sort of more complex handset to be used by

Asterisk and Polycom Soundpoint IP600
This Polycom phone seems to be one of the best on the market for sound quality and features. I have seen on the list that some people have gotten the IP 600 to work with Asterisk. Does anyone have the details of how to get this working i.e. XML phone config files, and any thing else I might need to know. Thank You, Chad Cowan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
Hi Everyone, I've been asked to determine which phones our organization should go with. And I've narrowed it down to the Polycom IP500 or the Cisco 7940. From my travels through google, it's hard to find a definitive comparison of the two phones. So I thought I would ask the people that have probably used both. From what I can tell, the only major benefit the Cisco has over the

Users handbook
At the most recent project I completed I have to post a intranet web page with instructions on using the system and phones. Asterisk is 1.07 stable and the phones are Polycom IP300, IP500, and IP600. Has anyone done an Astersik users guide? Something non-technical but covering most of the features an office worker would use. If nothing exists, should we develop this as a documentation project?

Any suggestions for an IP phone?
Hi all, We are in the process of selection IP Phones to work with our *new* Asterisk PBX. We want to buy 4 for something less than 1000$ but with a nice set of features to work with our mail box, lines, good sound quality, full duplex (and maybe speaker phone). Any suggestions for something with good voice quality and not much troubles to setup with Asterisk? Voici quality is the most

Polycom vs. Cisco IP Phones
Hi all, I am working on building a new VoIP PBX. Looking at the current market for phones it seems my best "enterprise" options are the Cisco and Polycom phones. I have some experiance with the Cisco 7940G, but the process of flashing the phone with the SIP firmware left a bad taste in my mouth (not to mention the added expense for the phone). What is the general consensis about

Opinions on Cisco 7960G, Polycom IP-600, and Snom 360
Hello, We are planning to replace our current PBX with an Asterisk / SIP solution, and are now trying to decide which phones to get. My first thought was the Cisco 7960G, but the Cisco licensing scheme irritates me enough that I'll probably end up going with either the Polycom IP-600 or Snom 360. If anyone has any opinions of these phones, especially in comparison to each other, I would

Polycom 500, asterisk user opinions?
Hi all, I'm researching IP phones for a new office setup. We will need 30 phones. I have read the wiki and the polycom site for the phones, but I still had some questions about real world experience with these phones. -According to the documentation, the 500 series ( and 600, according to a polycom rep ) have built in hubs. Has anybody noticed performance issues in this setup, when

Asterisk and IP500 / IP600 Boot RoM
Hello, Does anybody have the latest Boot ROMs for the IP500 and IP 600 Polycom phones. I have one of each and can't find the Boot ROM v 3 anywhere to download. I would also love a good sample phone.cfg and sip.cfg files from an Aussie asterisk user to look at. Also the ip500 is having problems trying to load the bootrom 2.6.2 ? Any ideas? Polycom Soundpoint IP400
I am trying to use a Polycom Soundpoint IP400 with my asterisk setup, and have been unable to find the proper firmware and application files to make it work. The phone can access the FTP server, and downloads the IP500/600 configuration files, but claims that the sip.ld file is larger than its file system. I can think of two possible ways to make this work. One is to find the IP400

Multiple Ext on IP500
Sorry if this show up twice, yesterdays post did not show up. We are having trouble setting up two ext's on one phone. We have it the point where the first two lines are ext 4000 then the third line is ext 4013. We can receive calls to both ext's but we can't make out going calls on ext 4013. The other thing that is strange is we need to have ext 4013 at the top of the config for ext

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is someone else complaining
