Hi all, We are in the process of selection IP Phones to work with our *new* Asterisk PBX. We want to buy 4 for something less than 1000$ but with a nice set of features to work with our mail box, lines, good sound quality, full duplex (and maybe speaker phone). Any suggestions for something with good voice quality and not much troubles to setup with Asterisk? Voici quality is the most important point. Thanks for any sugestion. -- Alexandre Leclerc
For multi-line without power over ethernet the snom 190 probably fits the bill and price point. I really like the 360 too, but is probably just over your price point. We purchased 50 at $225 mark. Many people are starting to mention the Grandstream 2000 as an option. For single line the uniden 200s have been good for us. Reliable good sound quality, but don't do the presence lights and multi-line stuff the snoms do. -- Jonathan Moore Director of Technology Winfield Public Schools Office 620.221.5100 Fax 620.221.0508 Quoting Alexandre Leclerc <aleclerc@ipso.ca>:> Hi all, > > We are in the process of selection IP Phones to work with our *new* > Asterisk PBX. > > We want to buy 4 for something less than 1000$ but with a nice set of > features to work with our mail box, lines, good sound quality, full > duplex (and maybe speaker phone). > > Any suggestions for something with good voice quality and not much > troubles to setup with Asterisk? > > Voici quality is the most important point. > > Thanks for any sugestion. > > -- > Alexandre Leclerc > > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users >Visit Winfield Public Schools at http://usd465.com ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/

I love the spa-3000 and related devices. I know they're not IP phones, but they turn any phone you want into one without sacrificing the features of either. Jon. [Asterisk-Users] Any suggestions for an IP phone?
Polycom does not support Asterisk. Thsi does not mean phones do not work with it. Rudolf P.S. I am having troubles setting up Polycom 300 with tftp server. By some reason phones always say "can not contact boot server". Phones are set to use tftp and correct boot server IP is set via dhcp. I will investigate further, but any suggestions are appreciated.> List Receiver <listreceiver@mastermindpro.com> wrote: > > According to voipsupply.com.... > http://www.voipsupply.com/product_info.php?cPath=95_112&products_id=817 > --Please Note: Polycom phones are not supported under Asterisk Open > Source > PBX. Actually.... yes.... those prices are straight from the voipsupply website, and include power supplies. Voipsupply will provide you with a Cisco "upgrade kit" that gives you all the files you need to upgrade the phone from the factory SCCP image to SIP v7. according to this debate, I would like to try snom 360 still more (features, opensource support, linux based) .... ;-) any good or bad experience with support from snom? or reliability of snom phones? Great points but I think the ease of config on Polycom via FTP along with the ease up firmware updates is a real winning combination. I have yet to need the kind diagnostics you refer to while troubleshooting. I copy a valid config, change the values as needed and load it to the FTP server. Boot the phone and we have tone. No tone? Check the config file and that is about it. For the average Joe, that would suffice. At least for me anyways... But one area which is lacking that Cisco is MUCH better at is diagnostics. By telnetting into a Cisco you have access to everything on the phone. You can also view layer 2 info and much more which you cannot do on a Polycom. When troubleshooting this is vtial information to have. _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Since there are so many Polycom fans here.... I bought a new Polycom IP500 about 8 months ago to compare with a Cisco 7940g while we where still in selection mode. We ended up going with Cisco 7960g and 7905g IP phones as our standard. If anyone wants to trade me Cisco for this Polycom, please contact me off list. It only had a couple of weeks of use and is just gathering dust here. A big part of our decision was not about features (which are very similar) but instead about form and function. Pick the handset up and use the phone. Cisco won hands down with our test subjects.
