Hey List-
running samba 3.0.23b
I have an issue with a single member of a group not being able to get write
access to a share that all the other members have access to. I have checked
the file permissions and they look good to me. Any thoughts on where to look
or solve this? Below is some info.

Acrobat Reader broken on CentOS 4.3
I have had Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.1 installed on my CentOS 4.2 desktop
and it worked fine. After upgrading to 4.3, I can't get it to come up
anymore. I downloaded Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and it does the same. I'd
appreciate any suggestions on what to look for, since the executable and
the startup scripts are not giving me any useful errors to chase.

Easy, Robust and Stable GUI???
I know that this isn't really a R help question, but I am a psychology student at TRU (tru.ca) and my psych department is going to be switching statistical software in the near future. I thought this might be a good oppertunity to advocate for open source if an acceptable option is available. I have looked around a bit and R seems to be the most stable and mature (not to mention powerful)

Interfacing C++ , MysQL and R
Hello!
After a presentation of some statistical analysis of process datas, (where the few R possibilities I was able to show made quite a big impression), I was asked if it was possible to program a statistical application which could be used directly by the end user.
Such an application would include a userfriendly interface (developped in C++), a db , a core statistical program, standard

How to change dovecot's bounce message
Hi,
I am using the quota plugin of dovecot. Dovecot is running as LDA for postfix.
When the system is running into the quota limit, the bounce message reads as
follows:
> Your message was automatically rejected by Dovecot Mail Delivery Agent.
> The following reason was given:
> Quota exceeded
Can I somehow change this message, to make it more userfriendly? Postfix has a

Date calender instead of selectboxes like in Django
Hi,
please have a look at
http://www2.jeffcroft.com/2006/may/02/django-non-programmers/
especially the screenshot in the middle with the Calender. Instead of
3 selectfields with day, month, year I find this one much more
userfriendly, also having yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Are there plugins for this? I know

php-sites, and

Design questions on creating digg.com-like URLs (are they considered RESTful?)
Hi everyone, I''m working on creating a site that functions similar to
digg.com (please no "no more digg clones" remarks please! :) ). One
thing I really like about digg is there URLs are very nice to read and I
would like to emulate that without having a lot of actions spread out
all over my application.
So in my app I have three main resources:
Users, Tags, and Items

HP vs. Brother Printers: Use with Centos/Fedora
We currently have a Brother MFC-5490CN. Printer firmware is dated June 1010. (yeah, 10 years old). Few years ago the brother software
wouldn't work for printing under Fedora. No problem, can print under Windows 10. Then it stopped scanning. Could still print...under
Windows.
Now, to fix the scanning features working I installed updated drivers under Windows, now it scans like champ, but

This is a test of Nixnet blocking
Most of the time since last Thursday or so, that piece of crap called
Nixnet (ix.manitu) has been blocking my hosting provider's mailservers.
I did ask, when I talked to support last week, and they host *millions* of
domains. They do not have a million techs (neither does google - but I'm
*sure* none of you have ever gotten spam from google mail, right?).
Again, I'll give my argument

kjournald tuning
While investigating erratic performance on one our our servers,
I'm getting some very odd performance stats coming from vmstat.
What initially appeared to be happening is the machine goes into a hard loop
in some mod_perl webserver code.
Now there still may be an issue with the code, but my code examinations show
no possible way this could be happening, but what I'm writing to you

We are a team working on a prospective psychological study. The study
design is based on assessing data of three generations of humans over a
long time period, wherein epidemiological as well as biological data
will be assessed. Sample sizes will range from about 100 to several
thousand depending on the research question.
Currently we are looking for an apropriate statistical package.

reassign 588839 to src:xen
reassign 588839 src:xen 4.0.1~rc3-1
block 588839 759018
thanks
I think this request has been largely obsoleted by the Xen support which is
available natively in grub2. The binaries are available in Jessie in a slightly
do-it-yourself fashion but the version of grub2 in NEW (2.02~beta2-16) makes
this all a lot more userfriendly by implementing the upstream pv bootloader
chainloading protocol

Try reconfiguring your setup so that the DNSSEC files live
in /var/named/data instead of /var/named. That directory should be
owned by named:named already, and it stays that way after updates, at
least in CentOS 5.

Here are the relevant lines from my /etc/named.conf file on CentOS 5.
directory "/var/named";
zone "43.168.192.in-addr.arpa" {
type master;
file "data/192.168.43";
};
This will create/modify file "/var/named/data/192.168.43" and works with
no issues after an upgrade.
