Tools to take a kernel crash dump.
...t able to analyze the cause. I have checked the logs but couldn''t find anything relating to it. Are there any tools such as kdump (which doesn''t seem to work on xenified kernels) for catching the kernel crash snapshot. Samba and RedHat 7.2
Well, I thought I was an "experience" samba user, but I've ran into something I've never seen before: All SAMBA protocols (smbd and nmbd) work fine on the "localhost", but do not work from a remote system (NT or Linux). This includes "telnet server 139". Basically, the telnet test works as one would expect from the localhost, but not from any remote system.

Failing Network card
...s, man pages, and getting advice from this list I have been able to work my way through difficulties, and at the end, I usually have a better understanding of what 'is going on'. I can only hope this method will work on this problem too. I have been chasing a problem with a pci-e TrendNet(TEG-ECTX) gigabit card. After adding the card to a machine with a new Centos 6.2 install and naming it 'eth4' it works well for 6 to 12 hours and then fails. The failure is characterized by dropping its connection speed from 1000 to 100 while not allowing any data to flow in or out. When this...

Two nics connected to one switch
We have a webserver that is connected to three different networks. Due to our cabling, we have to run two of those networks over the same physical network. When connecting from OS X and Windows we are occasionally blocked because the client is sending to the wrong interface. Linux clients seem to have no problem at all. I have read the docs and understand that the problems exists because of

Eth1 problem on CentOS-6.3
I am trying to transport a dd image between to hosts over a cross linked gigabit connection. Both hosts have an eth1 configured to a non routable ip addr on a shared network. No other devices exist on this link. When transferring via sftp I received a stall warning. Checking the logs I see this: dmesg | grep eth e1000e 0000:00:19.0: eth0: (PCI Express:2.5GT/s:Width x1) 00:1c:c0:f2:1f:bb

large files
I'm reposting this problem (perhaps a bug) now I've got more information on it. This is another point of view of the situation and I hope someone could have run into the same trouble before (and solved it :-)) This is it: * with ntbackup 2000 I create a 22Gb .bkf file in the windows machine. * I can copy that file over a samba share and get correct info form the file in windows

...be sticking with Samba instead of going to W2K (quotaed shares on a journalling filesystem were that important). I'm a bit disappointed that the Samba team apparently regard this issue as so unimportant. Couldn't someone who really knows the innards of this stuff spend a couple of hours integrating Scott's and Mathew's fixes into the core distribution, since the (non-working) code is already there? Don't get me wrong. No one could admire the Samba team's work more than I do, but that makes me all the more puzzled that what ought surely to be an important feature (which...
