PRI protocol question...
I'm having difficulty getting a PRI working between asterisk and a Merlin
Legend. I have been attempting to get it going as esf, b8zs & 5ess (although
I have tried other switchtypes...). I found the following info in the Legend
docs:
If the switch type is 5ESS, the protocol MUST be set for ATT Custom.
If switch type is DMS-100, the protocol MUST be set for NTNAPRI
The README in libpri implies that switchtype=5ess is ATT Custom

5ESS central office question
Anyone have a practical experience/knowledge relative to why a 5ESS
central office switch would require a "w" in the Dial statement to
handle analog pstn-fxo calls?
I fully understand what "w" is doing, just trying to better understand
why a 5ESS doesn't accept dtmf a little quicker then it does. Does
that switch make use of dtmf receiv...

5ess
Anyone using 5ess with success? I have a customer that wants to use it.
Seems to WORK for a short time then there are errors on the D-channel
and their side (nortel switch) shuts down the channel.
They were saying something about a slip error. I dont know this term.
I am using dahdi 2.1.0.4 and asterisk 1.4.22 and...

Looking for PRI Outbound Caller ID Configuration
I'm having trouble setting the outbound caller ID on calls I make from my
PRI trunk group. The PRIs are served out of a 5ESS. Telco has set the PRIs
up for user provided caller id information, so I believe I just don't have
it set up right in my dialplan or something. I can't seem to find an
example of setting the outbound caller ID specifically for a 5ESS. Does
anyone have an example configuration that they h...

Problems configuring a PRI...
I'm trying to get a Qwest PRI configured and working with my lab

And my entries in zapata.conf are:

Display Name
I have an NI2 PRI connection to a 5ESS switch. I am explicitly told to
use NI2 as the protocol, not 5ESS.
I am running Asterisk 1.2.4.
When making calls to the PSTN, Asterisk sends the calling name as part
of the display information element in the SETUP message. I need to be
able to send the calling name as part of the facility infor...

GR-303 zaptel and zapata configurations
...e
configurations just doesn't seem to be enough to bridge the gap for
me.
In Zaptel.conf,
Do you set up a GR-303 circuit like a PRI with b and d channels or do
you
set fxo or fxs, ks signalling?
How do you configure the channels for the control and timing channels
(12
and 24 on a T1 from a 5ESS switch)?
In zapata.conf,
Trunk groups require 1 or more signalling channels, so this would
indicate
that you need to set up the circuits in zaptel as PRI?
signalling can be gr303fxoks_cpe/net?
Do you assign CRV's instead of channels, or do you assign channels
and crv's?
I would appre...

Nortel Option 61C PBX?
Anyone interfaced * to the Nortel option 61c pbx via T1's, pri, etc?
Need to begin planning the implementation, purchase cards, etc. Any
recommended approaches, configuration problems, etc?
Off-list is fine if you'd like.

What type of PRI setup is best
I am having my colo set up 2 PRI's for my new asterisk implementation. They
asked the following...
##SNIP##
What type (NI2, NTI, 4ESS, or 5ESS) and whether they want to be USER or
NETWORK.
If the equipment is flexible, NI2, with us as NETWORK is preferred.
##SNIP##
We are using a digium quad span T1 card. What is the recommended setup?
Thanks,
Chris

Best dahdi switchtype to emulate (network side)?
...e interested is a PRI connection to a Dialogic
card, channels 1-10 inbound, the rest outbound. The vendor states
that their point of view, if the CO has a DMS100 that is the easiest
(PRI, 1-23, NI1, B8ZS, 10 channel choke for inbound). I won't type
the two pages of "CO tweaks" for a 5ess... I also don't want the
monthly reoccurring when we have multiple PRIs to tie into as it is.
Thanks for the input!

compatibility of PRI Two B channel transfers TBTC/2BTC
Hello,
A client has asked for Two B channel Transfer capability (known as
TBCT or 2BCT, similar to other features such as ECT, RTL and Q,SIG
Path Replacement) in a new Asterisk system and so I researched the
capability and came up with quite a few gaps in documentation.

DMS-500 CID name not in CDR
Hi Guys,
I have several * servers connected to T1 PRI's from various service providers in multiple locations the US. All the * servers use the same hardware with the same OS and * version. When connected to 5ESS Switches, using the NI2 (national) PRI protocol, the CID name and number come across fine and populate into the * CDR fine. I connected to a DMS-500, NI2 (national) protocol and the CID name doesn't get populated in the * CDR. The only variance in the PRI debug outputs is this, from the DMS s...

ISDN TBCT....
Greetings,
This may be a bit arcane but does anyone know what the contents of a facility message should be for initiating a TBCT on an NI2 ISDN. I've been trying to get it to work on a DMS100 for the last four months to no avail. The message I am currently sending makes it to the switch but is returned with unknown message. Perhaps someone here has done it before and can help me out.

any ISDN/PRI signaling experts out there?
...hey are actually waiting for the
call to progress before sending the facility IE CNAM.
As far as I can tell the GR-1367-CORE spec does not define a maximum
delay in sending the facility IE or whether it is acceptable to wait for
PROGRESS and ALERT before sending it.
The setup is; Telco PRI Lucent 5ESS <> Lucent MAX TNT <> Asterisk
The MAX TNT responds to the Facility IE with ISDN error 98, invalid
message for call state.
The SIP INVITE from the TNT to Asterisk contains no Caller Name
information.
It seems really odd to me that a Lucent TNT can not translate the caller

Problems with E100P
Hi,
I'm having trouble configuring and E1 link , I know the E1 is a PRI
and the switchtype is 5ess. The problem is that everytime I try to dial
I got and error saying that it was unable to open the zap channel .
Devices are created in the /dev/zap directory and I can open them with a
cat /dev/zap/1. I can also see the channels in /proc/zaptel/1.
Thanks in advance
