I'm trying to set up Windows browsing between subnets. I've set up a domain master/WINS server on the .0 subnet, and local masters on the .42 and .254 subnets, and I'm running into the above error on one - just one - of the subnets. The strange thing is that I'm running exactly the same version of RHEL on another subnet - and I'm getting no error. 3.0.25 on RHEL5. The samba.conf files are identical (well, except for the NETBIOS name) and look like so: ======================= Global Settings ====================================[global] use sendfile = no smb ports = 445 139 netbios name = CHEKOV log level = 2 workgroup = WINDOWS server string = Chekov Samba Server hosts deny = ALL hosts allow = 192.168. 127. log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log max log size = 5000 security = user encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 interfaces = eth0 lo bind interfaces only = Yes local master = yes os level = 66 domain master = no preferred master = yes wins server = 192.168.0.2 wins proxy = yes #============================ Share Definitions =============================; No shares! But the one domain works fine: [2008/03/29 17:28:38, 2] nmbd/nmbd_synclists.c:sync_browse_lists(176) Initiating browse sync for WINDOWS to DENMANTIRE(192.168.0.2) [2008/03/29 17:28:40, 2] nmbd/nmbd_synclists.c:complete_sync(290) sync with DENMANTIRE(192.168.0.2) for workgroup WINDOWS completed (31 records) while the other gives me this: [2008/03/29 17:28:06, 0] nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:domain_master_node_status_fail(248) domain_master_node_status_fail: Doing a node status request to the domain master browser for workgroup WINDOWS at IP 192.168.0.2 failed. Cannot sync browser lists. I'm not sure where to start debugging this - any nudges in the right direction appreciated. Thanks... -- tim boyer tim@denmantire.com
