I just got my PDC working but when I login as a user I get the following error message. "Windows cannot create profile directory \\MOSSPDC1\profiles\testuser.pds. You will be logged on with a local profile only. Changes to the profile will not be propagated to the server. Contact your network administrator. DETAIL - Access is denied. " Followed by this message. "Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off." I only get this when user a domain user. If I login as an Admin everything goes fine.

Therefore I set up 2 different test PCs: one with Win2k SP4 + updates and the other with WinXP SP2 + updates. Guess what? Both work correctly with LOCAL PROFILES (after having joined my Samba PDC). Therefore the trouble has to be my Win2k laptop. I just found out that I could be working around that "bug" by using the Policies on Win2k and FORCE it to use local profiles only. Take a look here: http://www.gatago.com/linux/samba/26610500.html That's what I did, but I don't know wheter to file a bug report to M$ or not! :-)
Hi, I've been experiencing similar problems before onto several machines with win2k with each different services packs. On win2k you must have the latest Service Pack (SP4) and security Packs ... Ms$ like to play with strange files permissions on differents case like First profile creation or Disconections server Profiles syncronisation, (you see some stranges things with wrights on the smb pdc at theses moments!)
