On Windows 95/98 you _must_ supply the name of the PC as part of the connect,
and it must be right, i.e.
smbclient -L NetBIOS-name-of-PC -I 192.168.0.11
for some reason the PC requires the name to be supplied by the client.
You can use 'nmblookup -A 192.168.0.11' to get the NetBIOS name you
need.
If you don't supply one, then 'smbclient' uses '*SMBSERVER'
which simply
won't work on Windows 95/98
Hope this helps,
