[Samba] Win2K Workstation Disconnecting Shares from Samba Server
Team: I have a Linux Server running Debian Testing (2.4.18 kernel) and Samba 2.2.3a-12.1 It's been running GREAT. This is a marvelous product. I have a minor issue, though. 2 of the 14 Win2K (all at SP3 and fully "Windows Updated") will "disconnect" the shares on the Samba server after only a few seconds of inactivity. This isn't typically a problem, except that with a few software packages (AutoCad, PhotoShop, Illustrator), attempts to resave a file generate a "file not found" error and bring up the Save As dialog. They can then navigate to the original shared directory and save, but it's a hassle. I've got to believe it's an obscure client setting on the Win2K boxes, but I can't find anything about it. All the shares on all 14 workstations are made via a login.bat, so these 2 workstations aren't mapping anything differently from the other 12. smb.conf included below: TIA madmac ;*******************section global***************** [global] printing = cups printcap = cups netbios name = gozer workgroup = orbent server string = %h server (Samba %v) log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 1000 syslog = 0 security = user encrypt passwords = true socket options = TCP_NODELAY local master = yes os level = 99 domain master = yes preferred master = yes wins support = yes dns proxy = no unix password sync = True passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n . pam password change = no obey pam restrictions = yes admin users = root domain logons = yes logon drive = H: logon script = logon.bat logon home = \\gozer\%u logon path = \\%N\profiles\%u ;*******************section QuickBooks***************** [QuickBooks] comment = QuickBooks Data Files path = /home/samba/quickbooks writeable = yes create mask = 770 directory mask = 770 locking = yes oplocks = no ;*******************section projects***************** [projects] comment = Orb Enterprises Projects Directory path = /projects writeable = yes create mask = 770 directory mask = 770 locking = yes oplocks = no ;*******************section homes***************** [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes create mask = 0600 directory mask = 0700 path = %H read only = no valid users = %S ;*******************section netlogon***************** [netlogon] comment = Network Logon Service path = /home/samba/netlogon guest ok = yes writable = no share modes = no ;*******************section profiles***************** [profiles] comment = Directory Profiles path = /home/samba/profiles guest ok = yes guest_account = nobody writeable = yes create mask = 0600 directory mask = 0700 ;*******************section printers***************** [printers] comment = All Printers browseable = no path = /tmp printable = yes public = no writable = no create mode = 0700 ;*******************section cdrom***************** [cdrom] comment = Samba server's CD-ROM writable = no locking = no path = /cdrom public = yes preexec = /bin/mount /cdrom postexec = /bin/umount /cdrom __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
