Hi folks, is anybody using those two products together and can give me any advice on how to do this? My specific issue has been addressed in other posts before, but as nobody responded, it would just now be interesting if anybody at least uses those applications together successfully? greets Malte

Yes, I have userd NetAtalk and Samba together. What is your problem? Email me off line if you need some pointers. - John T. -- John H Terpstra Email: jht@samba.org
John, I also use the two together, but I also want to hear any pointers given (and if they are not too Netatalk-centric, the list might benefit from them also). Thank you for everything you do, Troy Johnson>>> John H Terpstra <jht@samba.org> 04/17/03 08:59AM >>>On Thu, 17 Apr 2003, Malte Weber wrote:> is anybody using those two products together and can give me any advice > on how to do this? I will reply to list when I get feedback from the original poster. - John T.> > Thank you for everything you do, > > Troy Johnson > > >>> John H Terpstra <jht@samba.org> 04/17/03 08:59AM >>> > On Thu, 17 Apr 2003, Malte Weber wrote: > > is anybody using those two products together and can give me any advice > > on how to do this? I am getting together a little network for a non-profit that I volunteer. ViginiaCURE www.vaure.org. We have two Macs two intels(I am going to split the harddrives on the intels for WinME and Linux) but I see the software "DAVE" being highly lauded for the answer to all my problems, and I would rather not use it. Thanks in advance from a net admin not by experience but expedience and a newbie at that. stewartconnor@aol.com

It comes as part of RedHat professional package? 2) Have you heard of "DAVE" the guy at my ISP (erols.com) said he uses DAVE ($149 per Macintosh), "DAVE" websites claim full Samba(Linux) compability. But apparently "DAVE" is unnecessary. DAVE is supposed to be "the Mac file-share to MS-Win" standard, at least according to DAVE. (No relation to you?) ;-] 3) What does the final outcome look like on a Samba share with Macs and Redhar and Windows. Can you set up file explorers on on the Linux to look at the oters and vice-versa. Now I realize the network you described is not as small as what I am looking at so your interests probably didn't reach to this question but maybe you know: 4) Another very esoteric question: If you have a dialup 56K modem on one machine, can you somehow get the samba to use the dialup from a different machine. Or better, get a multi-plexing kind of thing going so that for instance one machine can be handling email simultaneous to another machine surfing all on the same dial-up. WE ARE AN EXTREMELY SMALL SHOP MAYBE TWO OR THREE PEOPLE IN THERE ALL DAY SO INCESTUOUS USE OF A SINGLE DIAL-UP MODEM IS INTERESTING TO US. stewartconnor@aol.com VirginiaCURE www.vacure.org
